You can't really start the played out list of favorite albums crap yet guys. This cd is not even out yet, and has barely had enough time to sink in. When listening to a cd starts to remind you of "that one summer" or other such comparison, then do the list. I can't put it anywhere on a list yet. It's still a new born, and it needs to grow to show its real personality.

I agree. So far though, it's definitely one cute-ass newborn, I'll give it that much.

My first impression is that BURN BURN is what Gravity should have been. I'm not too big on the Bob Rock era even though they did produce some catchy tunes. This album is very easy to listen to and is consistently better than anything they've produced in 10 years. It still fits in with the newer OLP but isn't held back this time. It's a refreshing change.

Not sure if the album is "great" but I'd give it a 4-star review after hearing it. It's undeniably solid all the way through.

That's a good way to describe it: solid.

Groundbreaking? No. Edgy? No.

But it is what Gravity or HIPT should have been.

I would prefer a return to where SM left off, but if they are going to go smooth and overproduced and mainstream, then this is the way to go.

They had kids, families, and Raine's perspective on life changed. The reason he was so negative in his lyrics before was because it was his worldview. But it's changed over 10 years. So yes the music sounds mainstream but Raine isn't gonna write depressing angsty lyrics anymore if he doesn't feel like it. Not to mention Spiritual Machines' commercial failure probably didn't help things. Maybe they just thought "whats the point, nobody likes this stuff". Ithink with Gravity they took what "Life" did for them in SM and brought it to a whole album level. The one thing I don't like is how Raine's lost his paranoid voice though.

That was my point. I don't mean edgy as in depressing lyrics, as much as they were good.

I meant the edge in his voice. Even when not using his falsetto, it had a certain sound to it pre-Gravity. Even sometimes on Gravity it had that effect.

Yeah I think Raine's paranoid edge is gone forever, and I think it's for the same reason the rest of the music has changed. I agree that if it were present on Burn Burn it would make it even more amazing, but I think Raine just doesn't feel like singing with that angst in his voice anymore. Angst/edge, whatever it's called.

Just listed to it all on the Sympatico stream.

The last 2 albums especially Gravity I never was like YES YES YES!!! Right away as I had with everything up to that date.

But both (Especially HIPT) grew on me after the next few hundred listenings.

Burn Burn so far has been inbetween.
It's not YES YES YES!!!!! But it's not like theres that 'Oh god is there a chance I may not like this album?' either.

It's more like: 'Not bad boys, not too shabby, I kinda dig it'

We'll see what comes when I get my hands on the physical copy and play it on a long drive.

I can not hear the cd due to being an AMerican fan. That is ok.. I am extremely happy to see Steve getting some love. Kudos to him and Raine for this..

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

Trustworthy, is that mixing in Monkey Brains, towards the end when the gears change back to full intense, the way it's supposed to sound?

The Monkey Brains feels like 2 different song that are cut together. after the soft part it hits back with the big bass and crazy guitar. It sounds good, but just off or accidental.

Not really, lol. I'm just being honest. I've known for a very long time that OLP and I are on very different wavelengths. It has nothing to do with any of you.

It's a good record. Just not for me, that's all.

Does the left speaker guitar annoy anyone else in White Flags? Brilliant song, but that guitar is so annoying. It has to be an error of some kind. If it was on both speakers, it'd be good.

Anyone want to attempt lyrics?
