but vancouver is 36 hours away from me, and toronto is only 3.5. i think toronto wins wins this battle.

i know this homeless man who hangs around my school. he's been there for 18+ years, and he sell ballpoint pens. he ask everyone he meets to marry him, and he's really nice.

I've walked through downtown vancouver, on the east side at like 3 am. I just wave and smile at junkies and prostitutes. They only mean harm to themselves, and usually they're very nice.
they're not as horrible and scary as everyone says they are.

Not at all! They're just people. Sometimes they have fascinating stories too, probably all of them do. It kinda makes my heart break when I see them there. That could be me in 20 years is what I always think.

it's sad to see all the homeless and such, but the thing with some (or in my opinion, most of them) is that they all had a choice to make - and they made the wrong one. whereas if you see kids in africa and 3rd world countries, they didn't even have a chance to make a wrong choice.
