My brother and my sister both smoke pot. My brother does it on a daily basis. I really wish he would stop. I've never done it but i do drink every once in a while .

My brother does lots of drugs and drinks like a maniac. It doesnt really bother me, because its what he wants to do, and he feels like he is living life to the fullest. He occasionally drinks/gets high and drives and that bothers me. He's come pretty close to getting arrested several times, but he's a good talker.

One of my best friends used to smoke a LOT. But then he looked around and he realized that the people he THOUGHT were his closest friends weren't really his friends at all, and that really depressed him. He stopped smoking a year ago or so. He told me at one point that if a bunch of his friends were sitting around smoking, he would probably do it too, but a few weeks later he told me that he decided to never smoke again, for any reason, and he hasn't looked back.

He drinks occasionally but he knows his limits and doesn't do anything stupid. I really don't care if he's DRUNK, just as long as he's not HIGH, because if he's high that means he's a hypocrite and a liar, and that's just no good.

I can't control my friends' lives. If they wanna smoke, or drink, they're going to do it and there's nothing I can really do about it, so I just don't bother trying to do anything. I'm at a point in my life right now where I don't NEED drugs or alcohol. I don't want them in my system, and I don't think I need them to have a good time. My friends know where I stand.

That's all :D

Yeah, good post Andrea.

My friend said he use to hang out with pot heads in high school who would steal his weed and were genuine assholes when it came to being "friends".

Its different now. All my friends are relatively successful, trustworthy people who just happened to enjoy weed. Most of us never touched it until our twenties. We don't touch hard drugs, and even stay away from alcohol more or less (unless its a nice pint of Guinness). I admit that there can be a lot of problems associated with weed, but usually it isn't the problem........most people just find that "potheads" are easy to generalize as lazy, idiotic people..........when really we actually have day jobs, are above average intelligence, and for the most part are good people.

or, you know, the whole massive amount of deaths associated with pot that was the premis of the arguement in the last thread could be whats wrong.

A buddy of mine is one of the most intelligent, creative people I know; and he smokes pot.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

I'm not saying that everyone who does it is a moron, but whatever. Sure, sometimes I think it ... but, in some ways, I'm fully aware it's not true.

THere is more to it. I could easily correlate weed and bad grades..........but its not really that weed is doing it..........its the bad choices of the student. I'm pretty sure I didn't like many potheads in high school either. Weed made them a little more vocal and joke around..........but these people weren't all that great to begin with.

Now that I am older and much more sure of my positions, I find that weed gets a bum rap. Using it requires good judgement and responsibility. Many teens do not have either and indulge in it to be cool. I don't go to my classes high or try and study when I'm high.

I couldn't care less what people think of me for doing it. I'm not trying to be arrogant. I do try and research the health effects, and advise most kids to stay away from it in high school so that you can develop good work and social habits early so that you make better and more informed choices later on.

Should kids do it?? hmmm, I don't think so........but they aren't gonna die trying it.

SHould weed be legalized? I hope it does.......but then again, the arguements are pretty strong against and for........its tough.

I think it works to have legalized in some European countries, as long as you don't toke in public.

Some of the nicest, sweetest people I know are stoners .. you can be an asshole and smoke pot or you can be an asshole and not smoke pot. Weed doesn't make a person an asshole. Some people are just born that way.

Okay, so it's been established that one's personality and the way they act towards others is not necessarily caused by drugs or alcohol (except when under the influence, of course).

Yet I still haven't heard anything good about it. All of the arguments for drugs and alcohol that I've seen are either "it isn't this" or "it doesn't do this". The only positive - meaning not "isn't" or "doesn't" - things I've heard is that it's "a good way to relax" or "something to do." But really, there must be more reason for putting poison in your body than boredom.

i do e because i enjoy it .. that's my reason .. i drink because i enjoy it .. what more of a reason do i need to provide? i've had negative experiences and i've had positive experiences with drinking/drugs .. such is life .. i'm the type of person that will try nearly anything at least once simply to experience it.

i can easily rave about how awesome it is and describe the positive experiences i've had but people who are so against drugs/drinking aren't going to accept what i say anyway right? when you have it in your head that something is bad, somebody else telling you it's good isn't going to change your mind .. which is why i like to experience things for myself. that's just who i am though, and how i feel ..

Poison??? How is weed poison?........you would have to smoke an impossible amount for it to kill you.......I can't remember the figure, but for THC to kill you it would be ridiculous.

What's good about it?

Its not really boredom..........it just enhances your sense of humour and changes your sensory perception. Music and movies can be awesome when you are high.................even sporting events like hockey all of a sudden can go from a tedious "trap" game to a bone crushing all out war. Weed does make you less socially capable however.

Its not suppose to change your life........its just a different way to experience the world. My friend who is amazing with computers always comes up with great ideas....then forgets them right after........

Its also great for relaxing after a stressful day. The way it takes the edge off and calm you down so you can sleep better is remarkable.

Referring to it as a "poison" is definetly one way of looking at it...............If you could smoke barrels and barrels of it...........sure it can kill you...but so can a lot of things in gross amounts.

Poison is anything that harms you. Weed harms you. Hence, it is a poison.

I really don't see the point of altering your perception. Reality is such a great thing. Why mess with it? And putting your body in danger at the same time...

Lots of things harm you .. animals/insects harm you, getting run over by a car harms you, breathing in pollution harms you, eating too much meat harms you .. you're poisoning yourself everyday anyway, might as well at least enjoy the poison and relax a bit.

Reality sucks a lot of time...after a week of classes and tests and studying and work its great to just kick back on friday night and have a couple of brews with a few other people and talk. Some nights you venture out to a party, meet new people, walk around and just escape reality.

Perhaps you like reality but alcohol is an escape, perhaps it is a bullshit escape but that is what it is. Eventually it becomes an addiction if you dont moderate it.

There are bad times..like on Halloween I am not sure what happens but I felt like I was in the scence from Donnie Darko where the people fly by you but I have had some good times too.

Like Joey said you can get killed doing a lot of things so take your chances and kick back with a few brews or a nice joint. (insert peer pressure here)
