I love the new CD. My favorite song so far is Obvious, it has the coolest guitars. All in all, I think it's my favorite so far too. So much deeper, not just emotionally, but musically as well. There's even some electronic stuff in it that I never heard in Blink's music before. Excellent CD and I like the direction theyre going in. There was a thing on MTV about it (its a cool show, I'd recommend it) and they were saying all the things we are about it, like how they wanted it to be more grown up and to take part in all levels of production. I'll also add that they are the funniest guys I've ever seen. One part, where Tom is getting interviewed, the lady asks him "What is the most (insert adjective, I forget) item you ever splurged on" and Tom replies "Lips" with this look on his face admitting that he didnt realize she said SPLURGED and not SPLOOGED. Anyway, I laughed for a while haha.

Blink now sounds like their spinoff "boxcar racer". How ironic that they move towards the side project.

There's a great article with Blink in this month's Chart magazine
Some highlights:

Smarter, Not More Mature

- The trio are nearing 30 and dammit, all people, even rock stars, are forced to grow up at some point right? Nope. Drummer Travis Barker reassures us any rumors of Blink getting serious have no merit. "Whoever wrote that should be fired." Barker says, laughing. "It's not that we're more mature, more sophisticated or anything, it's just over the last 3 years, you know, shit happens." The shit Barker is talking about involves a lot of personal life changing experiences such as divorcing his wife, falling in love again, and the birth of his first child. "His name is my middle name, Landon," says Barker. "It's crazy, I feel guilty, like, being on tour, doing drugs or drinking right now [laughs]. I don't want to be that guy. So I've been straight as an arrow, I don't know, I think there's so many people who get married or have a baby and they let that change their whole life. I think it should to a point, but you never want to forget who you are."

- The tattoo covered Barker does admit, however, that such major life changing events are going to affect the way any musician writes music. He explains the reason why people are getting confused and calling Blink's latest effort a more mature record is because in the past 3 years, the band has grown, their musical tastes have broadened and they have collectively started listening to new genres. "We started listening to more music. I think Mark and Tom started listening to a lot more music now, and that's kind of made things bigger and better for our band. We can draw from so many different genres of music. So it's just a more musical record."

- Speaking of Robert Smith "I think Mark had a crush on him since he was a little kid," jokes Barker about the decision to feature Smith on a song. "So he just called him and asked him. We gave him the track without vocals and just kind of told him what we wanted on there."

- On Canada: "You guys have very beautiful girls in Canada," he says. Travis openly expresses how much he loves playing in Canada and thanks all Canadian fans for their great reception every time Blink plays up north. "I think punk is more popular in Canada," he says. "In the states the urban community and the urban shows are big, and the punk rock shows are probably the smallest. It's weird, I think in every other country people go crazier when we play and they go crazier for that type of music [punk]. But the states are coming around. I think the states is just really conservative compared to Canada."

travis is god

Britney? That might've been last season for us... though, she could've made another appearance. But, don't worry, you'll get the one with Travis... eventually.
