hand cramps.
-Sarah

Goodbye you liar,
Well you sipped from the cup but you don't own up to anything
Then you think you will inspire
Take apart your head
(and I wish I could inspire)
Take apart your demons, then you add it to the list.

Maybe it's just me, but I think it's a great dvd. Aside from the problem with Birdman, and the audio being out of synch, I think it's awesome. Musically, it's wonderful, and visually it's stunning. But I guess they can't please everyone :(

So are these forged or not?

If I can find mine, I'll scan it later to compare.

I think it's supposed to be RM... he just initialed it.

i don't think they are forged... don't seem like it... duncan's and steve's you can tell are definitely not forged... raine and jeremy's sigs look a lil fishy, but not too bad... probably just wanted to get them outta the way so they made them half assed

100 sigs isn't that bad really... 150 actually (they added more due to demand)... not enough to really give you hand cramps...

Thief is on there.

It is one of the aforementioned special features.

But don't get too excited. It's nothing more than a cam corder bootleg. I mean, big up for putting that extra effort in because you know the fans like the song.

But really? A cam corder? Take some pride. It would have cost them less than a grand to mix the track properly and stick on a live record and then dump that on the DVD over the video.

But no, we get to enjoy the advantages of the omni-directional cam corder mic.

Actually, Stace filmed that at a club show...

Come on, people. At one mintue everyone's complaining about how much they hate these huge shows, and how the overproduction on the Live CD was a bad thing. Now we get one of our favourite live songs done acoustic in a club without the overproduction. But no, that's not good enough either

*Sigh*

Ever hear of value for money?

Go out and buy the new Coldplay, Rush or the new Duran Duran DVD's that came out this week. Compare any of them with OLP's recent disc. You'll see what I'm talking about when I reference the concept of "value."

Also, I never once posted about the overproduction of the live CD, so please don't rope me in to that bunch. I'm strictly in the quality control camp if you must have me pigeon holed.

We all love OLP's music, and we will support them nearly at every turn. We buy the CD's, the t-shirts, go to the show's etc.

Be that as it may, that does not mean we can't voice our concerns about shortfalls. I'm not talking about musical direction here as that is a bit of a tired horse - and to their credit, they are improving vastly compared to the shock of Gravity. Speaking strictly about PRODUCT, this DVD package falls way short of the mark considering what it would have taken to make fans really happy.

Let's also emphasize that this is the first instance I can ever recall being upset over OLP's attention to detail or quality in terms of their output.

But really, why go to the huge expense of roping in a french director, filming the show, mixing the audio in 5.1 and then skimp on the authoring/editing/overall packaging of the DVD? And then to further sully the quality by dumping out tracks from a cam corder onto the disc? You could have just put those into MPEG's and released them for free through OLP.net.

I mean for that special feature, I might as well have just traded for a bootleg video or bought one off ebay. Instead fans have put out between $18-$30 a shot. Don't you suppose OLP could have done a lot better? Again, look at DVD's from other bands before you answer this.

Also take into account that OLP have loads of quality footage and live recordings they could have put out on to the DVD. We've got all of their videos for one (mixing them into 5.1 would have costed alot but I digress...), all of the special short films from the concerts they've done would be a great addition on to the DVD. Or even some footage with Bob Rock talking about the Gravity recording process. Or maybe a commentary track from the band perhaps? Who wouldn't want to have Jeremy's hilarious insight into the show?

OLP have access to loads of their own material and have complete control over the quality of that material. Not to sound harsh, but this DVD is really full of low-quality scraps. I'm not happy with it, and why as a fan should I be?

To show I'm not too unreasonable, I'll suggest that they just could have gone the simple route ala Pearl Jam's recent Showbox DVD and just included the show, impeccably filmed, mixed and edited. I could have lived with that. In that instance, I wouldn't have much of a complaint.

Instead we've got something that looks like a work in progress with a bunch of afterthoughts tagged on. Low quality footage scattered throughout the DVD, poorly edited and synced, special features that really aren't all that special, and authoring that is well below standard (as evidenced by the recent recall).

This DVD does not live up to the standards OLP have set for themselves in the past. I wouldn't be much of a supporter if I didn't call them out on this.

I would assume this is suppose to be Raine's autograph. I have to tell you it doesn't really look like it. I am sorry to say, but I can almost do Raine's sig. He has a unique way of making his R's. I I would post photo with his sig, but my yahoo account deosn't let me post photos.

P.S. after looking at my autograph photos it is close, but that is the weirdest raine sig I ever saw.

I agree. Dammit Stace, why can't you take a six million dollar high definition camera with you to all the shows???????? Dam* your crappy footage. Why can't OLP take a full fledged film and audio crew with them everywhere? I don't understand.

But seriously, I think the DVD is great for those who aren't having problems with it. I will say that it's bad that the discs weren't of the utmost quality (the recall). I will also say that there are some things that we really didn't need from the band. For one, what good is an audio commentary on the concert? Sure Jeremy would have been a riot, but what can you say about a show.
Jer: There's me playing the drums. Look how I drum.
Raine: Look at me molest Steve. I love it.
Steve: Look at Raine molest me. It scares me in a kinky sort of way.
Duncan: Glad I'm on the other end of the stage.
Mike E: Somebody put the f'n camera on me!!!!!!!

The extra tour footage was great. Granted it wasn't with a million dollar camera, but good grief, at least Stace made a damn good effort to create some sort of documentation of the show. I can also live without a Bob Rock interview. The only Bob Rock video we need is of me shooting him point blank in the dingy with a .50 caliber revolver. OLP's videos on DVD finally, yes, that would kick ass. I'll keep my hopes up it may happen someday. But we have all of them but 3 or 4 on the hub now, so that makes me happy. So have a warm cup of kwitcherbitchen and enjoy the DVD.

its not worth talking about if no one is open to peoples negative views. Crack all the jokes you want but the prodcution of this DVD was absolute garbage and there is no proving that wrong.
