Why I like OLP... in a word: everything. To get more specific, though...
(Obviously) the music itself. The lyrics (my god, the lyrics). The melodies. The fact that they're some of the best musicians out there and it shows. The fact that there's not a single OLP song that I dislike. The fact that every song touches me in a different way.
Definitely the live shows, I don't enjoy any concert as much as an OLP show.
Then there's the guys' themselves. Their attitudes toward fans, music, etc. Their personalities. Their passion toward the music. Such a great group of guys.
And, I think one of my absolute favorite things about OLP is their fans. I've never met a group of such intellegent, friendly, fun people in my life. It's amazing. *sigh* I've met some of the best friends I've ever had thanks to OLP. *hugs everyone*

I like everything about OLP as Nikki said.
What first grabbed me about OLP in the beginning was STARSEED on the radio. I had never heard anything like it. The guitar was amazing, the drumming just blew me away...and that voice. I heard "the voice" and I was hooked. I had never heard such insane falsettos in all my life. The lyrics just grab me. I can always find something to relate to in nearly every song. The atmosphere of all the songs is just different and original (minus gravity
) I remembered that I had heard another song by them the year before in 94 off a music sampler called MODERN ROCK. Then it all hit me it was the same band. The song was HOPE. and from there I got hooked. I saw OLP the first time in 1995 with Van Halen and 7x since.
The live shows are so amazing that there is no band out there that can even compare. I've seen over 100 rock shows and NONE even come close to knocking OLP off. You just get this feeling that they really know and care that you are there. And the interaction with the fans during and after the shows is unmatched. I mean, Hell, I've hung out with them more times than any other band - and it is because they make themselves accessible.
The band themselves. My god, Mike Turner was (and still is in my book) great. OLP are definitely missing him for those amazing guitar riffs. Steve hasnt come close (but he is trying
) Mike is who connected me with OLP. I met Mike a few occasions, he never failed to have something interesting to say, or some amazing story about pre olp about his life and with OLP to tell, and has a memory like a harddrive. He even remembered my birthday! What a guy! Jero, my god, that man makes me laugh so hard. Duncan is generally shy and reserved but that makes him different. Raine is just hilarious. Every time I have met him, he always cracks a joke or makes fun of Jeremy
(I love watching that!) And when you think he isnt paying attention to what you are saying, watch out, cause he totally knows what you just said. I was talking to Duncan (in atlanta) and he told me I looked familiar, and I said that we had met in Tennessee in 2001. and Raine piped up from across the room and said "You're from TENNESSEE??!!" and conversations ensued from there. So yeah, the guys are pretty amazing

why i like olp
- 4 great cds of unparalled music
- the live shows- forget the concert itself the pre-concert always winds up being the best. Meeting new people and having fun with people you dont see too often.
- the friends i have met through OLP and my girlfriend who I met through OLP. kind of weird to think if this band never formed I wouldnt know these people today.
- the concerts when Raine makes eye contact with your section and you just feel like he knows you are singing along
- the way that every now and then they will take a request if it is reasonable and add it to the set and ocassionaly add an old song into the set.
- they played 2 free shows in NY last year
- talking to them and having them actually pay attention, though i dont know if this is still true but it used to be.
- the CM
that is all for now

6. Their Live shows of course. Even though I saw them three times. I was still excited beyond belief to be able to see them. I do not care of they play the same set of songs. I do not care if Raine climbs the rigging. I do not care if Steve does his solo's. Its all good and nothing beats their shows.
Professional Canadian.
I didn't read all the reasons...but I'll tell ya why I love em.
Because I never get sick of their stuff. I take Naveed or SM out in the field w/ me and that is sufficient for me for the entire day.
Because Raine has such a unique voice.
Cause the music behind the lyrics just sucks me in and catches my attention.
Because almost all of the lyrics, excepting a few, really make me think and reanalyze my life.
Cause I had to actually listen to start to like them, and there weren't just catchy. And don't tell me that SOT and Innocent are catchy, cause I actually hated those songs w/ passion when they came out.

I love OLP because I can listen to 5 studio albums, 1 live album, demo tapes, b-sides, covers, countless bootlegged shows(i have about 100), and go to concert after concert and I cant seem to get tired of them. Every song, old and new, i can listen to and appreciate. They have great energy on stage and I cant say that there is one song on any album that I cant listen to. No other band has given me that satisfaction. From meeting them, they are great guys, and they never seem to dissapoint me when new material comes out. I listen to them every day and will continue to do so for a long time. I LOVE THEIR MUSIC!!!!!
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

Our Lady Peace is the best.
It's created a culture of captured people like ourselves, appreciating music which dosen't just sound good, it's timeless.
Raine knows what sets him apart, its not simply a voice, mood or style, its a soul (innocent -- jonnhy looses himself in something faceless, but OLP find themselves, their own souls, not someone elses vision of what music should be).
I love them, and their music saves me

Why I like OLP?
Cuz they friggin' rock socks.
Cuz they friggin' rock socks.
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

Naveed - SM , Every single song has meaning to me and touches me in a way.
The concerts- they kick a lot of ass live. When they did club shows or very small halls like St. Andrews it was amazing. Their bigger shows are still amazing, just not as personal.
I also believe that I wouldn't be who I am today if I never listened to OLP, they have affected my life in so many ways.

What I felt before was wrong, I told myself all along, these familiar feelings take away the pain. And with this reason to rebel, I told you how I felt, you turned and sighed and said you couldn't feel a thing for me. And I lost another wish in all of this.

Hey... there's absolutely nothing wrong with Naveed, Rob.

Why I Like OLP:
-This is a simple reason, but it's good to know that there are people out there that feel the same way that I do in a certain situation. (ie. Thief)

i love OLP cause their music helped me get through the rough times. esp. the song 4AM. made me realize i'm not the only one bitter towards my father. and they make great music. and they treat their fans like friends. they're so down to earth. what more can you ask for?

Why I Love OLP: Well i've been a fan since i stole my dad's copy of Naveed, when i was 6, lol. But it wasnt until i was like 12 or 13 that i realised what the lyrics meant, and that it wasnt just sound...a lot of the lyrics i can relate to, and i think i feel like a connection with them...i also greatly respect OLP for not becoming your average materialised "rock" band, they stayed real and they didnt take themselves too seriously..plus..raine is just so smart..like..you all know what I mean...and though im not vain..he's beautiful
..but the voice...gives me those spine shivers ya know? BUt theres a couple of recent things that have me a bit iffy: 1. Lyrics that have been done by them before...i think in Car Crash its like "innocent innocent" oh looky here! 6 yrs later we have the song, Innocent
, plus less wild guitar solos etc....im an acoustic junkie..hehe

I love OLP for many reasons.
First of all, Raine's voice is unbelievable, it's so powerful and unique from all the other vocalists out there.
Their lyrics (esp. first 4 albums) are so captivating, descriptive and thoughtful. These lyrics are open enough for different people to interpret them different ways. The subjects of the songs have a wide variety of topics, not just romance.
The music is awesome. They are all amazing musicians and seem quite attached to their instruments, which brings out their talent. All the albums sound so different from each other. They experiment with different musical styles.
You can listen to their albums over and over and have a new favourite OLP album each week, depending on what you're feeling. The songs and albums can set moods in different situations, especially if you're listening to them on headphones (I'm not sure how to explain that). You can sing along to them.
Although I have only seen one OLP show (but I'm hopefully going to Edgefest!), I can say that their live shows are absolutely amazing. They have so much energy and seem to really enjoy the music they make. They connect with the audience during concerts.
Although I have never met them, they seem to be connected and friendly with their fans. The guys themselves are fun, interesting people. Raine is very intelligent (excellent Chart article) and has a unique perception of fame and life in general. They're far from your average rock band. (Yes, I always considered them rock, in one form or another).
They're just plain GREAT.
