I kinda agree. I do like BBTS, but not over all the songs on the other albums.

"Do You Like It" wasn't just some convenient set of words that Raine threw together, its about the music industry and how producers turn bands into something that they're not. (which is kindof ironic that he wrote that in gravity but whatever)

Actually I've found Not Enough and Do You Like It to be the best 2 tracks off of Gravity.......I also dig Whatever but that really doesn't count as an album track of course.

This album is lyrically their best, Most people don't like it because Raine is more straight foreward with his lyrics and not as abscure. But whats wrong with that? I think it's a lot harder to write songs this way than to write lyrics metomorphically speaking. This album also is clearly about relationships and the differen't emotions you go through, and can touch home on a lot of basis. I can't tell you the number of times I've quoted them.

The "abscure" lyrics made you think deeply into what they ment. you don't need to think with the new lyrics.

I think OLP's best lyrically written album was Happiness... but thats just my opinion.

hahahahaha. i could have written gravity in my sleep. the lyrics are so fucking awful. do you like it is the worst song raine's ever written. i don't care what it's about, the lyrics are incredibly cliche and overused, not to mention crappy.

Sorry everyone I've watched this thread for a while trying not to put in my two cents worth as a pick up for Gravity... Flea is right with those examples and why is everyone forgetting SOT???? If Raine didnt' explain it to us all in the bonus online materials for Gravity we'd have nothing but countless attempts to explain that song as well... And while the lyrics may be more straight forward than before, I felt it was the perfect time, what with all little Georgie's plots to take over the world by force, for songs like BBTS and Sorry as clear examples of the world we're living in...
Raine has more than proven his abilities to write deeply and metaphorically, thumbs up to him for showing the nonbelievers that he can simply tell the truth straight out too!!!

Whether you think the songs may be strong lyrically or not, do you honestly think that any of them could beat out anything on the previous four albums lyric-wise? I mean, compare a single off each album, like Naveed, Supermans Dead, Is Anybody Home?, or In Repair, and you can see how things have gone downhill with "Gravity". The songs just aren't as strong in terms of Raine's writing. You can't say that its not apparent.

I don't think I'd completely blame Raine's writing...........what matters is how well the fans seem to grip onto the music, itself. And Gravity wasn't given the support that the other albums got.

But that is what we are talking about, right ... how strong the songs are lyrically? I was just making the point that because Gravity is not that strong lyrically (or in alot of other ways), none of the tracks make my list. Things just aren't the same as they used to be.

I guess I just still see lots of bright spots (lyrically) in Gravity....

I know theres other main reasons why Gravity just didn't go over as well as the other albums, especially in Canada I mean.
