i've never once felt the urge to dance to any of them.

Actually thats a lie, at time Summertime In The Void gives me a slight inkling

In comes DFA1979 if you want to dance but you're painfully white

When I dance to DFA it's entirely pelvic thrusts.
Just because I am sexy, naked, a bassist, and sporting a top hat doesn't make me Duncan Coutts!

Rob, I agree with jenny as far as checking out Radiohead. They don't sound much like what you listen to, but they're good enough that you might like them a lot. They're great musically, and they've got the lyrics that you obviously need. Also, they're one of those bands that you have to let grow on you, so give them a chance. Also also, they've got some Douglas Adams references in a few songs... check out Paranoid Android, cause it may peak your interest. then go with Karma Police just cause it's an awesome song.
OK Computer's gotta be on the hub. I'm actually almost sure you'll love it after a few spins.

I don't know how you feel about Incubus, but i can see you liking them. They have the whole alt-rock/heavy guitar thing you seem to be into, and again, pretty solid lyrics. A lot of OLP fans like these guys.

Other than that, maybe try something like Muse or the Stills. not quite as big as the other bands, but you may like them. check out radiohead and incubus first though.

I say if he's gonna get a Radiohead album, it should be "The Bends". Personally, that's the only one I like. Great album. Also... I'm sharing it on the hub. So that makes that easy.

AHEM! You've forgotten that I'm here, perhaps?

 Awesome. That should be the official name of the genre.

Sounds painful.

But yeah, bludgeon away. You seem to have god taste in music (well, when your music isn't SCREAMING at me).

EDIT: I'd fix that typo, but it just seems to emphasize my point

What album is "Just" from? Because I love that song (probably at least somewhat due to the fact that the video is ORGASMIC in its perfection).

EDIT: Nevermind, I just checked your list. That's the one.
