Feeling nostalgic
I think that my OLPness is peaking right now, oddly enough. I think I'm lucky to be a bit younger than a lot of you. I loved them since I was young, but only in the past 2-3 years have I gotten into their live stuff, and really paid close attention to songs on their albums that weren't singles. Now with meeting them looming, I think I've never been a bigger fan. I can definitely feel a difference, I was listening to Naveed on my iPod yesterday and actually took a close look at how different they are now for the first time. But hey, that's fine by me. I think it's be bring if we had 6 Clumsy's, you know? It's good to be able to put my OLP folder on shuffle and hear all kinds of stuff.

oh man, this thread is exactly how i feel all the time and especially now with the new album. they were such a significant part of my growing up but i just can't get excited the way i used to. but i know that has a lot to do with how much i’ve changed and as much as i hate change...it happens...nothing against olp.

It's a matter of everyone growing... not up... because it's very possible to still be very passionate about favorite bands when older (and some of us on this board are living proof of that)... maybe just a matter of interests changing, and other things becoming more important than music? I dunno.
i don't know about that. i think the old albums were just that good.
Not to trash the new stuff, but if they were still making music like they used to, i might still have that passion.
but i agree with just about everyone in here. those were some good times
blah
mmhm. i wish i woulda been older so i was around when happiness and clumsy were being released. then i would feel even more nostalgic.

same here. although i don't have many tangible contributions to add here because i wasn't actually there back in the grander eras, i still feel that in the shorter time that i've known this band and that i've indulged in their works that i miss what they used to be. i think we all do, and that very few of us (if any) at this point would still feel that exact same spark brought on by the first four albums.

err... i did too...
you have to, you just have to trust me
whoever i was then i can't ever be again
the faith you've found i've never felt
the terror held in wedding bells
the comfort in "there's no one else"
the truth be told, i'm never going to know

it's sad (as in sad sad, not pathetic sad) when i think that olp is no longer as special as it used to be.

I think I feel like most people. I didn't get into OLP until SM but I recognized most of their older stuff and thought...wow. That was around gr. 9-11. I thought wow with Gravity, too (I'm not quite as picky as other people) but that faded after a while. Now, I've listened to HIPT a million times but few songs screamed "great" to me...it took a lot of getting used to and there's some songs there that still have to win me over. OLP isn't as wild as they used to be during the Naveed (oddly enough one of my least favourite OLP albums) and Clumsy days and I miss that.
But those guys are still my favourite band. I listen to other bands but I don't pay as much attention to them like I did OLP. I'm willing to read OLP articles, see how they're doing on the charts, find rare songs on the Hub, keep their music videos on tape...I don't do that for other bands. OLP's like family...I don't like every single thing that they do but they'll always play an important part in my life. They're not like the Spice Girls or Nickelback...groups/bands I easily forgot about.

And if I don't make it known that
I've loved you all along
Just like sunny days that
We ignore because
We're all dumb and jaded
And I hope to God I figure out
What's wrong
~4am~

Exactly. We all change, our tastes change and along with that.. fresh and more interesting things come along in our lives. Whoever said "maybe it's because we've found things more important than music in our lives" hit the nail on the head. I can't entirely relate because i'm still only 17 and stuck in that obessive, "OMG OUR LADY PEACE, *CRANKS UP RADIO*" stage, but I can definetly see what people are getting at.

I have been an olp fan for so many years now , everytime something come out I am really excited and all but I have to admit that just to listen to the albums from naveed to sm is just way higher then anything else I can listen to ever. These are the classic albums, they'll always be with their crown in my dvd collection. Reading this thread reminds me still how it was during this era. I get nostalgic now and then and I watch the old videos and some old shows and then I miss the old time. but still, olp has a huge place in my life and I still listen to them and watch their new stuff all the time, for sure it's not like it used to be but, it still just &*"&/ rocks
