Axtech wrote:I think one major difference though is that other books mentioned don't teach "These people are bad for believing ________", they just say what one group thinks is okay. And while that may be offensive to opposing groups, it isn't teaching a message of intolerance. It's one thing to say "It's okay for two men to marry eachother", and completely another to say "It's okay for two men to marry eachother, and anyone who thinks otherwise is a satanic demon who wants to kill you in your sleep".

Does the book ever actually say something to the effect that "if you believe such and such viewpoint you are bad?" Or are we just assuming.

"Help Mom, There are liberals under my bed"
It sets a tone, does it not?

So does "NO, George, NO! The Re-Parenting of George W. Bush"

Therefore I don't see how the two are any different.

I never justified that book, the only book I commented on was the second one[King and King or whatever it was called].

I don't believe any publications that teach something as being wrong or bad(besides laws like stealing or killing etc) should be given to children because it eliminates their choice as to what to believe.

Hmm while I agree that there shouldnt be childrens books on the subject, I think that the notion that you should always allow your children to make their own choices is bad parenting.

When it comes to making decisions about things like Politics, Religion and Preferences of Economic Values i'd say its up to the child. If you force something on your child, I can guarantee they will hate you for it. There is a clear difference between offering an opinion and telling a child that is the only opinion to have.

So when you tell your child about how you believe in gay marriage you're going to offer it as an opinion?

If I decide to have children, i will yes, because I know how it feels to be forced into believing/agreeing with something, "or else". Although I highly doubt by the time I'm ready to have babies Gay Marriage will even be an issue. It isnt even one to me anymore.
