and there are a lot of people believing certain races to be superior, it's pretty common in the right wing. Bush obviously believes a white life is superior to an arab

ah ah ah.. not so fast. If you go by the compass, that is more of a "North wing" ideology. Left/Right is *supposed to* deal mainly with economics.

-0.97 hardly qualifies you as a "libertarian". With that grade, you believe the government should have *some* control over the way you live. And judging by your username, I'm quite surprised you decided to go with a liberal vote... :P

I know that a large portion of the population of Canada resides in Ontario and Quebec, but it's so frustrating to see a "Projected Liberal Minority" before you even cast your vote.....

And I'm saying this as a liberal voter!

Anyways, good that the Liberals won. Hopefully this little scare whips them into shape. I however do not like the fact that the NDP is garnering so much power..

On that note.. It's amazing how strong the Conservatives are in Alberta. I voted Liberal and my candidate lost to a Conservative by over 25000.

A liberal/NDP coalition sounds like a good idea to me. The NDP will ensure things get done, but the liberals will be able to feasibly budget for it.

Oh ya on the compass thing... I was...

i'm about as happy as could be expected. I voted NDP. Like someone already said NDP will get things done, such as when they got Health care, and the Liberals can keep budgeting undercontroll. It's to bad Paul Martin is so publically weak though.

Oh and AJK........You were surprised the Conservities did well in Alberta? If they were going to do good anywhere in Canada is woudl definatly be in alberta

It's not the fact that they won that surprised me. They had 26 seats last election too.

It's just the amount by which they were winning by. It's insane. In almost every Calgary riding the Tories were winning by 25000. In the rural areas it was even more... The two liberal seats in Alberta were won by a Deputy PM who had beat her rival by 500 and an incumbent who won by 33 votes.

I just find it amusing how Alberta's vote is so much different than the rest of the country (sans Saskatchewan..). I guess that's why there's a lot of Western Seperatism talk coming out of Alberta today.

On that note, an interesting twist. It looked like a Liberal/NDP coalition would be enough for a majority. But, it turns out that they are one seat short, barring a recount. The Conservatives have 99 and are likely to get the one independant to cross over (he was a former conservative..). If Harper and the Bloc decide to vote on the same line, it could get real messy.

Same goes with the speaker situation as all 4 parties really can't afford to lose an MP.

I can't believe how Conservative Alberta looks when you see how many seats the Conservatives got! I think if there was proportional representation, Alberta would be almost split between the Liberals and the Conservatives. I know my riding was. A Liberal took it but he only won by a little over a hundred votes...and the Conservative guy was leading for awhile. Kinda weird how my riding was one of the only two in Alberta that had a Liberal win. I think it's mainly because the people like the MPs more than they like Martin.

I would have expected the NDP to gain more seats but it's good that they've increased in seats overall. It wouldn't be so bad if they formed a coalition with the Liberals but I don't think Klein would like that very much.
And if I don't make it known that
I've loved you all along
Just like sunny days that
We ignore because
We're all dumb and jaded
And I hope to God I figure out
What's wrong

why would anyone wanna separate from canada?

Queens Of The Stone Age-Someone's In The Wolf

Once you're lost in twillights's blue
You don't find your way, the way finds you...

Tempt the fates, beware the smile
It hides all the teeth, my dear,
What's behind them...

So glad you could stay
Forever

He steps between the trees, a crooked man
There's blood on the blade
Don't take his hand

You warm by the firelight, in twilight's blue
Shadows creep & dance the walls
He's creeping too..

So glad you could stay
Forever
