And this whole Canadian/American comparison is getting frustrating.
We live in geographically different locations. Of corse people who live close to the boarder are similar. People from Texas are going to have a very different culture then those from the Yukon. Its just common sense. But to say that all Americans and all Canadians are similar is a little ridiculous. If anyone from the states came here, they would think that St. John's is just like any other small town from the states. But if you look at our culture, we are closer to Ireland then America, hell we are closer to Ireland then we are to Canada! Thats just the way it is. Any developed country in the world is going to have similarities. But someone in BC is going to have a different culture then someone in Nova Scotia who is going to have a differnet culture then someone in California. Canada is the second biggest country in the world, and the United States is the fifth. To lump everyone from both together into one huge catigory is senseless.

Big cities usually have more money, and usually more money means better equipped schools. It's not that all southerners are a bunch of idiots, it's that the little school out in the country isn't going to have the means to teach the kids as well as the big rich school in the huge city.

I suppose I really am a stupid redneck then.

Also note that those figures don't relate to the voters. Maybe only the smartest voters in each state voted. Maybe only the dumbest...

I'm sorry, but what does that have to do with anything? This has gotten so off topic I'm not sure what we're arguing about anymore.

He was making the claim that you need to live in a country to know what it's like in that country. It all stems from whether citizens from other countries know what the voters in the USA were thinking when voting in Bush, because for the most part the world doesn't understand how he was re-elected.

After 8 pages you expect the thread to drift away from the original topic cause you can really only discuss the actual fact Bush won for so long.
