Way to blow everything way out of proportion.....all I'm trying to do is understand your point of view. If its not worth sending troops over there to save thousands of lives and to remove a monster from power then you MUST have a better idea that hasn't been tried right?? Chill out and have a normal conversation. You getting all defensive over nothing shows me you don't know what would work.

To everyone else......have I said ANYTHING remotely offensive for her to tweek out about?? I'm just asking for her opinion on what should be done. If you didn't want to discuss your opinion then why come here and contribute?

I never said i have a better idea. I just don't think its right if u do ok and i'm not blowing anything out of proportion.Simply responding to your "questions". And i believe the topic was whos supporting the war not explain to me what ur opinion is on the war so i can try and change ur mind.

I'm not trying to change your mind. Most people have strong, backed opinons why its wrong. I just wanted to understand your view, which I do now even though you haven't said it.

I'm with venom here. i get very tired of somebody coming in, making a blanket statement about a complex issue and then, when they're asked to defend said statement, they cling to the "but it's my OPINION" defense.

sorry folks, but i like debate because it's a learning experience. i can't learn anything from you if you won't tell me why you feel how you do. this whole "i don't have to justify the way i feel to anybody" thing is bullshit too - you do so.

if you feel like killing somebody, you better bloody well be able to justify it. because if you can't rationalize the use of force then you're a murderer and not a protector.

GWB's "opinion" is that Saddam is a bad man. he's willing to go to WAR based on his "opinion"

I don't know about y'all, but his 'opinion' is not good enough for me. if you enter a forum where a discussion is going on, please try and join the discussion. don't just fire off a position and then leave without defending it. if you're not equipped to defend your position then you shouldn't be forming an opinion until you know whose side you're on and why.

/end rant

People, haven't we learned anything from yesterday? Fighting doesn't get your views about war across, it just pisses people off. And no, that is not directed towards Venom, but rather the last few comments that have been made. Let's try to stay levelheaded here for a little while and try to have a civil conversation.

essentially saying that she supported iraq or she supported hussein would do that to a lot of ppl.. if that was not what you were trying to get at by saying what you did.. then im sorry.. just when i read it i took it the same way she did.. my apologies however if im wrong

Liam, don't hate the French. Great Britian and the USA are powerful enough to take down Iraq without their help. Yeah, they're being bastards about this, but why hate them? If something happens to them, they can rot in hell.

I don't understand how anyone can say they hate 'the french' ... that's like saying 'i hate all americans' or 'i hate canadians' ... how can you hate an entire country? Doesn't make any sense .. you might hate what some of them are doing .. but hating 'them' and lumping them all in together as one?

:uh:

everyone has a right to an opinion. They dont need to post 100 links to justify their opinion. They are not trying to come here and justify their opinions with you venom, cory, me or whoever. They just simply want to get involved in the conversation without getting told "you dont know anything about this topic so dont speak". This is an Our Lady Peace message board not a political science board. No one came here expecting a war and expecting to have to post their opinion about such a hard situation. Some people just want to express their opinion without a debate, can you accept that?

You should be able to defend your comments. If they were that important to post, then you must have a strong case behind them, otherwise you wouldn't bother. If you don't want to defend them, fine, but don't get upset when someone asks you to.

if people start asking people with an opinion to find a million links to cnn pages and quoting specific pieces of official US documents to prove their point then the current event topic must go b/c we arent all as smart as many claim to be here.

you shouldn't need to cite sources to talk about your opinion. If that were the case, it really isn't your opinion anymore. It is somebody else's.

ladies....ladies! please!

melissa's not looking for a debate she justs wants it known that she feels one way or another, that's enough.

Its not enough.....opinions are formed on strong feelings and information. If you can't back it up its not really an opinion its someone elses that you are spewing back. I have formed my opinions on research and deciding for myself what I take to be fact and what I think is bogus. We don't want her to post articles, we just wanted to know why she has the opinion she has.

my thinking falls in with Corey's - you must have a reason for feeling the way you do, and if you have an opinion on an issue the only way i'll ever learn from you is if you're prepared to elaborate and explain why you have your beliefs.

you need more then an opinion to demonstrate a thinking mind.
