Naveed's Value

Post by Axtech »

Alright, this is sort of a long story...

I started to do a presentation for english, involving me playing Naveed for the class. Well, the bell rang, cutting my presentation short, so I have to do it again on Monday.

Anyways...

I went up to the front of the room, and on my way, someone asked me what song I was doing. So I said "Naveed by Our Lady Peace". Someone else heard the "Our Lady Peace" part, and asked "Are you doing Life?", I said "No, I'm doing-" when someone else asked "Are you doing Superman's Dead? I love that song!" and I said "No, I'm doing Naveed". I was surprised at how many people liked OLP. I kind of thought it was going to be one of those things where they'd go "Oh. That band..." Right when I started playing the song, about ten people said something like "OH! I know this song!"

Anyways...

After english, I had chemistry, in which I sit near a girl who's also in my english class. This girl asked me if my Naveed CD was burned, or the original. I said that it's the original, and she said, "Wow. That's worth a lot of money." I was shocked. I asked why, and she said "Well, my brother's got that CD and his friends keep telling him to burn it and sell it because it's got so much value, and he'd get a lot of money for it." Me: :wtf:

So, does anyone know what she was talking about? Is her brother (or his friends) as insane as I think, or should I go out and buy a bunch of copies and sell them for a larger profit?

Where I live (Edmonton) Naveed is usually on the sale rack at HMV for $11.99.

Well . . . . actually other narcotics or alcohol could have the same effects. So it may not be crack.

Naveed isn't rare. at all. if you ever question something's rarity and worth, look for it on ebay. that's usually a great place to find out how much you can get for something.

for instance, a couple of days after Layne Staley died I was in a crappy little indoor flea market in Virginia and I found the promotional Jar of Flies. it's this mason jar that's got fake flies glued to the top and sides, and lying dead on the bottom. it's got an AiC sticker on the front that says Jar of Flies. I'd never seen it, so I shelled out the $14 for it. a week later I checked on ebay and it was going for over $100.

Sweet deal...

I still can't get over all the OLP fans around me at school. Why the hell aren't any of them on here?!?!

Oh, right. They "have lives".

Naveed is the least expensive of the 5. I see it everywhere for between $10.00 and $13.00. Spiritual Machines is the most expensive at a cost of anywhere between $20.99 and $24.99. So to answer your question, her bother is on crack.

I haven't seen a copy of Naveed anywhere around here since I bought it a few years back. They always have like 2 of Clumsy, sometimes a Happiness.. here and there, about 4 SM's, and a shitload of Gravity's. No store around here ever has Naveed. I hate music stores in Western New York.

Every place I go to has Naveed. It's usually Happiness that they don't have. And oh yeah, where can I get a special edition SM?

Everyone at your "music" is into hardcore punk?

Just kidding. I knew what you meant. I wish people at my school liked hardcore punk. Everyone at my school is into pop, rap, hip hop crap. :(

I hate it. I walk in and they're all decked out in chains and skateboards and tatoos and spiky hair and nose rings. "Yo, Brent dawg! Whats happenin' yo? Did you finish that mother f***in' English assignment yo? That teachers such a bitch dawg!" I'm like "In English please."

Isn't that ghetto talk?

I would love people who board, and have tattoos and piercings at my school. Don't take it for granted. Appreciate them!!!

there was one bitch at my high school who would hang out with the skateboard kids. I bought a pair of Vision sneakers because I thought they were cool looking and she actually confronted me in chemistry one day about them. she asked me if I skated. I told her no, I didn't have the coordination. she told me I shouldn't wear the shoes then. I told her I would stop wearing the shoes if she could take them off my feet, otherwise she could kiss my lily white non-skating ass. fucking skank backed off really quick. possibly because one of my best friends was a big mexican chic. I was really skinny in high school. it's good to have friends. the skank was a total bitch to me until I started dating her skater so-called boyfriend, Billy. I don't remember seeing her much after that. sometimes... once in a great while... life is pretty good to us uncoordinated, non-cliquish people. :P

I paid all of 9.99 for my Naveed. It was one of those discount ones at Best Buy, so yeah...they must be REAL hard to come by

That's how it is here, too. If you total up all of the copies of all OLP CD's at all of the music stores where I live, you get 2 or 3 Clumsy's, maybe a Happiness, 3 or 4 Spiritual Machine's, a bunch of Gravity's and no Naveed's.

And as for prices where I live, Gravity was about $12 on sale, Clumsy is about $16, and I think that Happiness and Spiritual Machines are both about $20.
