Actually she can skateboard, not that it matters ... she's just not very good but she likes doing it .. she does play the guitar but also, she's not very good on it yet, therefore she doesn't play it live ... co-writing songs ... same as Raine and OLP and many bands out there today .. and also, nobody has any evidence that Avril isn't acting like herself either .. since nobody knows her personally and is simply going by what the media is trying is imply.

It's funny how people who have been wearing ties like that since before Avril was popular are being accused of copying her now.

riding doesn't count. if she's going to brag about what a hardcore boarder she is, why didn't she show us some of her tricks in the video? and why did they have to hire that pro?

and i "can" play the guitar, just "not very well", but i sure as hell don't tell people i'm a guitar player.

what evidence do i have that she's not acting herself? the above lies and/or half-truths about her personality. wouldn't lying about ones hobbies or skills indicate a facade?

besides, britney is way hotter.

She has claimed that she's a good skater, and then told an interviewer that she sucked. Said that her best trick was an ollie.

she can't decide how good she is. her story continues to change... indicators of lying? present.

There not lies .. she can board because I watched some show on her and she was playing around with the guys and boarding pretty good .. they hired the pro to come in and help her to do some of the tricks. Just like they hire acting coaches for actors when they're working on a part. Doesn't mean they can't act, just means they need help in a certain area. Plus she can play the guitar but doesn't play it live ... tell me why these things matter? Don't say it's because she's lying cuz I really don't see any lies ..

1. The tie is skanky because it draws attention to her knockers.
2. So she writes her own material. Yipty do. Writing your own material isn't something to be proud of if the material in question is crap. PS: Glance at the credits on her cd. All of those songs have a professional song-writer down as co-writer. So there goes that theory.
3. So she plays her own instrument. So do all the people in my high school band. That doesn't mean they deserve a record deal. PS#2: Pavoritti just sings, doesn't play his own instrument. Does that make him a crappy musician? Ditto on Billie Holiday. And since the London Philharmonic ONLY plays instruments and doesn't actually sing, well they must suck too.
4. You honestly just tried to compare OLP to Avril? One is a rock BAND, the other is a solo chick. OLP has 5 albums and nearly 10 years behind them, the chick has one album and a few months. One has multiple Juno awards and the reputation that comes with several hit singles/albums. The other has one album, an MTV awards (yipty), and zero proof of longevity. That is NOT "Nough said."
5. Where was Avril's 'underground' fan base? The people who remember her back when? OH WAIT. There aren't people like that. Why? Because she got signed based off an image. She didn't tour the crappy bars, didn't put in the 'bitch' time that goes with actually starting a band. She was a pseudo-punk, so she got a deal. That being said, when someone is made famous based primarily off an image like she did, that image is therefore fair game when making a judgement on her. She is damn near EVERY stereotypical punk chick EVER. The spikes, the belt, the "crazy" tie, give her a mohawk and she's done with the checklist. Yet she claims to be "original," despite Madonna, Courtney Love, Joan Jett...the list goes on. The only difference is she lacks any kind of spine, so all of her "crazy punkness" is just in apperance. Check out the music. Where's the heavy guitar riffs? The volume? The punk sound? She isn't Joan Jett, she's a washed down version of PINK. She's there for that painful transition between liking Mandy Moore and liking Pink.
And I simply CANNOT see how you don't watch her interviews and such and realize that the whole "tough girl" thing is a giant act she puts on whenever a camera is rolling. It's so obvious it HURTS.

I did also realize that she only co-wrote all the songs. However, from what I've heard, the songs are mostly hers, but the record company paired her up with pros just to keep her on track (she is only 17 after all).
4. No I did not compare her to OLP. If you can read at the same level that you can write (i.e. not very well) you should at least have figured it out that I was adressing the fact that she was being critisized for not playing the guitar live but playing it in the video. I gave the example of OLP as a band that has done this as well, and since I'm sure a lot of people out there like OLP, critisizing Avril For not playing the guitar live is fairly hipocritical.
5. I'm not even going to bother responding to that crap.

Why should we "give her credit" for actually being a musician when she's trying to pass herself off as a musician? The point is that she says shit like "Oh, I sit down with a guitar and just write what I'm feeling," and then plays guitar on ONE song, never live, and later claims she sits down with her guitar player when writing songs. Her guitar player as in NOT HER. She's is trying to generate the image of an actual musician by lying during interviews. That's bullshit.
Also, it's important to note that she didn't mention anywhere the co-writers. They were obviously important enough to get co-writer credit on the songs, yet she comes out with these statements implying (heavily) that she writes all her own songs on her own. That's also bullshit.
She's lying in order to generate an image and if you somehow can't see that, then I'm curious as to how you managed to get online in the first place.

Do you even know what a comparison is? It's when you pull up a similar situation, and the outcome of that situation in order to add support to your stance on an issue. Here the issue was that Avril isn't really the guitar player she's trying to pass herself off as. You pulled up the fact that Raine doesn't always play guitar live to show that it's not a damning statement for a guitar player to not play live. You compared the two. Bullshit about it all you want but you'll still be wrong. Look up the meaning of the big words next time, I can tell you have trouble with them.
Oh, and if you are going to try and compare ever again, aim for the similar situation. Comparing OLP and Avril is like saying "Well, James Hetfield doesn't always play guitar live, so Jessica Simpson's okay." And if you don't see the problems inherent in that statement then you're just an idiot and have no place talking about music.

PS: regarding the poorly thrown barb about my level of writing; At least I actually bothered to pull up a source or two (her liner notes, the bit about OLP's history...). If you had a single idea about this kind of thing then you'd realize how little the words "well I heard somewhere" matter.

Actually, she was just lucky .. she was confronted by Arista when she was 16 and moved to Manhattan. She didn't like them there .. they wanted to write her songs for her, so she left and moved out to LA on her own and then her debut cd came out ..

You keep talking about her image .. but image will only get you so far. She has a beautiful voice and she sounds fantastic live. You can't fake that .. yeah she's got attitude .. considering all that's happened to her in the past 2 years with getting a record deal and having her debut cd do so well .. geezuz I'd have an attitude too. She's only 17 years old ... she'll grow up a bit.

Just because she didn't have to struggle to get where she is today doesn't mean she doesn't have talent ... actually, I recall an interview where Raine said the same thing .. how they were lucky to get a record deal so quickly and sometimes they feel bad for having it so easy in the beginning .. does that mean they got where they were based on image too???? I highly doubt that ..

Also, how can Avril have fans who remember her way back when??? She's 17!!!! Do you expect people to go around saying "ahh yes, I remember little Avril when she was singing in the church choir at 12 years old" Come on now ..
