Musicians wanted for an OLP tribute cd

Post by bovine »

I am interested in creating an Our Lady Peace tribute cd and I would like your help. If you’re a musician and can play any OLP songs, I would love to hear them and consider putting them on the cd. If you are a musician who can’t play any OLP songs, but would like to learn, www.ourladypeace.cc/tablature.htm is a great source for guitar, bass, and drum tabs. You do not need to be a professional musician to add to this comp – I am planning on contributing “Stealing Babies” and I’ve only been playing guitar for about 2 ½ years. Also, you don’t need to be in a band to play on the cd (I’m not in a band and will just be playing guitar and singing), but if you are in a band and would like to submit material, that’s cool too! I am open to different styles as well – you are welcomed to play songs differently from the way OLP plays them as long as the lyrics and basic chord structure remain at least similar.

Timeframe
I am planning on getting a 4 track recorder around Christmas, so I won’t be ready to make the cd until at least a short time after that. However, if you have your material prepared and would like to send it to me now, that’s fine.

Sending
You can send your music one of two ways. One – on an audio cd (or cd-r) through postal mail…or two – e-mail me an mp3 (sorry, no other file types are accepted). If you decide to e-mail an mp3, please e-mail me a few days in advance just to let me know who you are and that you will be sending so that I don’t assume it is a virus or something not of interest. My e-mail address is bovine@enter.net

Duplicates
I would like to try to avoid having duplicate songs or musicians if at all possible. Also, I would like to keep it to songs from one of OLP’s 5 albums, not rarities or songs OLP has covered.

Selling
This music is copyrighted, and furthermore, selling isn’t the right thing to do. Once this cd is made, please feel free to spread the music, but do not involve money!

e-mail me or post here.

If I only had a band, I would so do this....
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

If I only had a brain, a heart, the nerve. Ohh, wait. Sorry... 8-)
"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

You don't need a band. Like I said in my original post, I'm going to contribute a song that I will do solo.

She was creating a second CD with OLP covers and originals, and then she totally went for the originals and is all about that now... A new cover recording would be fun.

I might be able to help you all out with this in the comming months. I might be doing an OLP song in my vocal class - that is, if I can either A) find a decent enough MIDI file of one of the songs or B) get a drummer and a guitarist who know what they're doing and then figure out how to play the bass line on what ever song on a four string bass. (I love Duncan in all and he's an inspiration, but he seriously has to start using the four string more often.)

Juliekate's CD was half and half. It was a Cd made by fans of OLP. Some of it was original songs with maybe one or two OLP covers.

I think it was undrer Naveed must die or something like that.

Hey,

a little sand flea told me someone was asking about the compilation Cd!

Yes, unfortunately, I turned to all originals because it was really too freaking hard finding people to do OLP covers. And I found I liked the originals too...

but, I've uploaded the old nmd.com files to ai.com.

The link is www.anti-industry.com/cd/tracklist.htm

I'll finish uploading the songs tonight. The links are partly working, but will be completed this weekend.

If you want some help or pointers or whatever on what I did for the OLP cd, email me, I'm happy to help!

I ended up getting the band (all 5) to sign some of the CDs, they seemed to love the idea, so I'm sure they would totally welcome a new cover CD.

Thank you for noticing!

been busy working on the new site & getting involved in musician's rights. Also I've kind of...grown apart from OLP lately, just taking some space.

How've you been bebe?

Okay. Been better, been worse. Shit happens :P

Sorry to hear that you're growing apart from OLP, but it happened to me, too. Sometimes you just gotta give it a rest

Yeah I'm sure I'll grow out of it. I just need to go listen to Naveed in 2 months and I'll fall in love again.

Who's that stud in your avatar? It looks like The Rock with a mullet!

Jake Gyllenhaal as Donnie in Donnie Darko.

He's very hot but doesn't actually have a mullet XD...Though now that I look at it, it looks like he does. He's got a hood on.
