That old OLP tour...

Post by teelow »

Um, if anyone saw that Gonna Meet a Rock Star with OLP...
Can anyone tell me about that tour? Was it OLP who started it? Who else was on the tour? I am just curious. :)

Summersault was a festival that OLP started in 1998 to bring lesser known bands across Canada that might not be able to paly other wise. That year they only did 4 shows and if memory serves me right it had

Fuel, esthero, harvey danger, Eve 6 and a few bands I can't remeber on the second stage
main stage was I Mother Earth, Grand harvas(or however ther name was spelled) Johnny swing jazz, Garbage(one of the main reasons besides OLP that I went), OLP and Crystal method

the did another one in 2000 that went acoss Canada.

this one had
2nd stage:
Finger 11, Cahterine Wheel, SUm41(look how huge those kids are now), Eve6,

Main Stage:
Perfect Circle, Deftones, Foo Fighters,Treble Charger, Smashing Pumpkins and OLP.

the started it up as a way to bring lesser bands across canada.

Will there be another Summersault. Who knows. I think they are concentrating on their own tours now, because as they have said it is a massive undertaking to plan the whoel thing. But who knows maybe 2003 will have one.

Like Gail said, it was when Sum 41 was not known and not popular at all.

That was crazy. I remember looking up their stuff (Sum 41) online because I'd never heard of them before SS00. Now they're all over everything all the time..............

i remember i got half hour of power for $2.99 at tower records way back when. im not the biggest fan of it, but i really like 'makes no difference' so it was worth it.

Damn you OLP, why do you have to be so damn cool? :wtf:

Like, I doubt they are the richest and most powerful people but they still went together and got all these bands together. Amazing.

Thats why I luv OLP.

Well Teelo, you have to admit that OLP is the most popular Canadian band over the past 5 years. In Canada, anything they put out is instant platinum, so them putting on a tour in Canada is like N*Sync grabbing a bunch of pop acts in America and going on a festival tour.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
