They play those last two songs and just about every show they play now, so go to one, you'll hear them.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

I think OLP needs to extend their shows by 3 or 4 songs. With their current set, the only ones that in my mind, aren't staple songs (excluding Gravity songs, which also have to be played) are Whatever, The Birdman, Are You Sad, and Neon Crossing. The Birdman seems like it's been turning into a staple song, too, in the last couple years. So in an 18 song set they only have room for a handful of older, non-staple songs. If they expand their shows just a little bit it will leave room to play some of their other songs without cutting the things that they have to play. That's what you should ask them to do, instead of just "play this song." A ton of people tell them play this, or play that, but maybe instead more people should be telling them their shows need a few more songs so they have room to work different songs in without taking out staple songs.

well it's good to know you'll be okay
I've been waiting for this
and I'll be there to sit while you pray
nobody's blaming me
I'm not suppose to wait
while they open up your heart.

I have been good, I understood
like a machine, they'll fix you from the start
I'm in repair, Life that we share
I know I'll be lost, but we're always in repair

Lock the door-lock the door

It's good to know, that you'll drive away
from this car crash nightmare
And I'll be here to help you again
there's no danger, we're just killing time again
while they ordered up new parts

take this time to figure this out
know the wire, the fuse, the things you doubt
the wheels, the air, the metal, the mouth
something, something

I have been good, I understood,
Like a machine, they'll fix you from the start
I'm in repair, The life that we share
I know that I'll be lost

but we're always *IN REPAIR*

It's moving lyrics like this that make me love Raine.(okay there are other reasons there) YOu have to admit that Raine has grown as a lyricist and his lyrics are profound and meaningful now.

GOD I love this song.

Rainebow, make a trip. Come on, they have been in New York a couple of times this month, and you couldn't go to one of the shows? I mean, you were relatively close to Rochester, because I had to drive past Naigra to get to Rochester, from Detroit. And if you're a hardcore fan, you'll try to drive to the Detroit show coming up. It would be worth it, even though I could tell you the set list right now.

first off OLP play a bit of a long set now. It is just over 90 minurtes. Sometime about 100 minutes. I think considering they play like 4 shows straight then take maybe one day off then do another 3-4 shows would be much to extend the set. Besides what difference is it if they do 3-4 songs more or take out 1 or 2 songs to put in 1 or 2 different songs. They have been doing that the whole tour. There have been 3 sets.-June, july and August. They aren't going to please everyone. For most part alot of us want to hear the same song.

When I say Staple songs I mean songs done on every tour. Right now they are playing alot of Gravity songs. There are certain songs the band always play. naveed(although some festivals they didn't do it at) clumsy, superman's dead, Starseed and 4AM. I think within time that Is Anyone Home will be a staple song. they have been doing that song at every show since the happiness tour.

They change the songs around. you also got to realize that Steve is still learning alot of the older stuff.

I think we pretty much want to hear the same songs. Actually when ever I asked if a song would make it back in they smiled and said you never know. I honestly think Blister will be in for the next leg of the tour.

Now we have to work on In Repair. Right guys.

I haven't been to a lot of concerts, but from bootlegs of various bands, OLP's sets seem shorter than an average length for bands with as much material as they have. Maybe it's just that all the other bands I've heard bootlegs from play unusually long sets and that gave me a twisted idea of what the average concert length should be. They've been running about 95 minutes this tour, but they did 22+ song sets for the Canadian club tour at the end of 2000. It does take a long time to get songs down, Steve's doing great. I was very surprised to hear Neon Crossing in Portland. But it isn't as if they only know 18 songs. They've been changing the set from time to time on this tour, I haven't been paying attention too closely to what songs they've played since getting Steve & Mike, but they can play the current 18 songs, A Story About a Girl, Made of Steel, Automatic Flowers, and Thief. If they're only doing 18 songs because they'll get worn down by adding any more, that's fine - I understand that they're people, and people need rest.

And I thought I was using that definition for staple songs, too. Maybe I didn't say it very clearly, but what I meant was that if you discount the staple songs and all the songs from Gravity, there's only a few other songs that they've been playing. Starseed, Naveed, Superman's Dead, 4 AM, & Clumsy are staple songs, definitely. Is Anybody Home & One Man Army, from what I can tell, have been played very often since 1999 - so I call them staple songs, too. Right Behind You wasn't played at the festivals this year, I didn't realize that earlier, but now that I think of it, Whatever was and it has been played often since it was introduced, so it's staple-ish. The Birdman hasn't always been in their set, but it's been played more and more in the last couple years, so if it's possible for a song to be reintroduced and become a staple, that's happening with The Birdman. That doesn't leave a lot of room for different songs.

And from what people have been posting in this topic, it sounds like there are a lot of different ideas of what they should put back into concerts. If they ever put some more songs in a show in the US, so it was closer to what they did for the club tour in Canada in 2000, I would love a set like this:

All for You
Do You Like It?
Everyone's a Junkie
Superman's Dead
Naveed/Life
Stealing Babies
Not Enough
Bring Back the Sun
Big Dumb Rocket
One Man Army
Clumsy
The Birdman
Made to Heal
Are You Sad?
Somewhere Out There
Starseed

Is Anybody Home?
Waited
Sorry
4 AM

So that's like 6 songs that they aren't playing now. But I don't think they would replace Innocent with Sorry now that Innocent is a single. :(

So Gail, when you say next leg of the tour they might add Blister, do you mean that the next leg of the tour would be in the middle of September? Because if they have it for the Detroit show, I will probably cry. No lies, I would keel over.

probably they will change the current set from this tour. I am sure they Europe shows will be a bit different then the USA ones. They didn't play there for SM. Who knows.

Hopefully we can get it in for when they come back. Like I said we all ready mentioned it to Steve to learn it. Actually also when I spoke to Duncan in Cleveland I said you guys really need to add Blister for the next time. he said they were working on a few songs to bring back into the set. you never know.

so we can only hope. Eventually I think Raine will get sick of me asking him to play it.
I can see it now. This is for Gail and Alan so they will leave us the fuck alone all ready to play it.
haha. I am kidding about that statement. I don't think he would get mad
Actually I was thinking today How lucky I am that I can get close enough to Raine to even bust his chops like that. hey it works both ways. he gets on me sometimes also.

songs that should be added...
Blister
Stealing Babies
Potato Girl
Julia (not the piano version cause that would take the special-ness away from that version of the song)
Middle of Yesterday

songs that should be taken out of current set...
Right Behind You
Neon Crossing (it was nice but i think Stealing Babies would make for a better choice)
Not Enough (MOY can take this songs place)

So that would make for a 20 song set instead of 18... take 3 songs out and add 5...
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.

^Good idea. MOY is more of an opening song though, so I don't know if that would be added, but maybe In Repair could get that spot. Not Enough is still pretty damn good live, and stands a chance to still be played on tour for their next cd. It just stands out. I would prefer a Blister, Potato Girl, or In Repair over that any day of the week though.
