The Death Of Much Music

Post by UltraViolet »

Hey Guys,
it seems offical. Much Music is offical no longer available in the USA anymore. I know last year it changed to MMUSA. You still got a few Much Music programs like the countdown, much on demand, electric circus, mega hits, spotlight and one or two others.
within the last month all those shows were deleted from MMUSA. Today I was watching and we don't even get the Live from Much anymore(which use to be on from 3pm-4:30PM)

It is a sad day. The powers that be took a good station and ruined it. We all ready have MTV, MTV2, and a few other stations. They mad ethis station to compete with MTV2. It is a poor version if you ask me and I hate the tastemaker people they have on. it is always the same videos over and over( not that much didn't play the same stuff-you at least got to see other videos by the artist) MMUSA only plays current videos by th eartist. you won't see anything but that. That to me is one of the reasons this station is horrible. They don't play the artist. They play the most popular song at the time.

what really bothers me is the fact that I can't see the Canadian artist I love anymore. I have yet to see the new Treble Charger video, the newer David Usher video etc. I also really miss Go With The Flow.

I am through. I envy the people who live in Canada now. I want the old Much Back.

I wasn't aware that my WHOLE world came crashing down... heh, happiness is not a fish that you can catch, but a station you can watch... I miss the endless OLP videos and interviews. I say we all go to Toronto and do a protest. Who's with me? Oh, I wish....

they took spotlight off MMUSA?! OUTRAGE!

I wish they would get rid of Dedicate Live... it can go to Hell for all I care. It's the worst show ever.

give it time. By next week those shows will be gone. I haven't seen amuch news in weeks. I think Rap City and Wedge are the only shows left.

I miss seeing Rick and George. Can't wait till I go back to Toronto next month to visit them. I always go by and say Hi to Rick. have yet to meet George.

as for protesting it won't work. A bunch of us wrote letters last year and got the same response. The channel is still new and adding. But we appreciate your imput and there will be something for everyone there.

Yeah right. I hate the new stuff. Tastemaker is the same people. I can't stand the girl Julia for URANIUM or what have you. What makes her the authority on HardRcok/Punk. Gee I had purple hair, wore punk clothes and listen to the music when i was 20, does that make me a know it all also.
Forget that stupid Chunky countdown. it is nothing more then TRL-just another channel.

I rather watch MTV2 or VH1. I use to at least watch MMUSA a bit. Now I don't It is the same block of videos over and over.
I do mean blocks. They maybe change them 1-2 times aweek.

well what you gonna do.

all you guys who get Much Music better make us copies of the *Innocent video* when it is aired.

I was half-kidding about protesting, but it would still be fun even if we had no purpose. Kind of like a CM meetup in front of the chum building... heh. we could just blare OLP and wear our "I'm with Pookie" shirts and be a public nuisance, marching in a circle, pretending we have a cause. But who needs a cause to party? Maybe Rick and George would join us. I haven't seen Rick for months. :|

First off Much Music has nothing to do with the USA version.

it is run by rainbow something or another. They bought the rights to the Much Music name. Much Music like MTV is broadcast all over the world. The stations buy the rights to the name and broadcast their version of the video channel.

it isn't the channel we need to protest but the owners of the station who felt the need to make it another run of the mill USA video channel.

anyway what'd done is done. We USA people will miss much because Much Music was a huge help in helping me get into OLP's music and other Canadian bands as I watched the channel more.

when I first heard Starseed I feel inlove with the song, but never heard anything else about the band in print or on tv. It wasn't untill I had Much Music put on my cable lineup that I was able to get to hear any of their other stuff. In that way Much was instrumental in helping me get into OLP as much as I did, plus finally seeing them live.

it's a miricle I got into the band the way I did with limited amount of exposure. Sure later on I joined the PPU, finally got online to join the CC and such. That is why a bunch of us miss much.

until gravity I can tell you that OLP were never played where I live or played once or twice on MTV. I only hope that Innocent will get the same response(airing wise) as SOT did.

Aw. Well we can all still go to TO anyway, right guys?

I totally agree ultraviolet. MM was how I got into olp too. You heard nothing about OLP here when SM and Happiness came out here, yet MM always respected them and made sure they got tons of exposure. MM didn't overplay the same video over and over to it's death, becuase it had so much OLP stuff to chose from. How many times are you going to catch starseed on MMUSA? This goes for other Canadian bands as well. I'd never even heard of Treble Charger, MGB, Gob, etc. before Much. Well, gwtf chatroom is on now, so I guess that's my last hope.

MM has been showing the MTV VMA's for years now... it's nothing new.
MM uses a lot of MTV shows such as "Becoming" to fill in time slots, nothing big really...
I can't wait until the day schools are over-funded and the military is forced to hold bake sales to buy planes.
