When MM first changed to MMUSA, a lot of people emailed and complained, and they all got the same reply letter.

Wow, I didn't know that bout MTV owning VH1...I think MTV is trying to take over the world. Or something. Anyways, I also noticed that Daria now comes on "The 'n'" instead of MTV, which is strange. but now MTV is complete crap cause Daria used to be the only good thing on it.
MTV2 is slightly less shitty than the rest of the music channels.
don't look now, just keep watching the TV hating what's too see waiting for someone to say something that's right.

Oooh, I was wondering why all VH1 played was crappy MTV re-runs, I hate re-runs on MTV, now I hate them on VH-1... Oh and about MTV2, when they're not playing rap (which is about 50% of the time) I highly enjoy the channel, especially at 6 when they have MTV2 Rock, very nice.

Oy.

What you people don't know about business... Viacom owns MTV Networks, which has consisted of MTV, VH1 since it started, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central, MTV2, MTVX/Jams, and the European, Russian, Asian, and South American affiliates of MTV, the MTV Books line, and other MTV-related things. Viacom also owns CBS, as well as Paramount Pictures and United Paramount Networks (UPN). They own The National Network, as well, formerly The Nashville Network. They have a 15% stock holding in World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc., and own Blockbuster Video.

This explains why all MTV Films productions are distributed by Paramount, as well as VH1's only feature thus far, Zoolander. The only MTV thing I don't think that is really "owned" by Viacom is the music compilations -- the trademark of the network is just licensed to the record labels that release them.

Viacom's owned MTV Networks since like, 1997 -- which is why MTV moved to Times Square.

Now, VH1 is showing MTV reruns based off the fact that VH1's ratings have been falling like a base jumper who's parachute won't open. Viacom assigned the program director that put Jackass and South Park on the air to help revive it -- and he's stewing around right now waiting for the perfect show to kickstart the channel's heart.

What's better than to turn it into a rerun channel in the meantime? Now, if only they would run reruns of Daria/Beavis + Butt-head, and other stuff that people actually would watch...

Remember when VH1 only had Behind the Music marathons EVERY WEEKEND? I'm actually missing those...

... And Late World with Zach? Whatever happened to that show? It had its good moments...

I hate "The N" or whatever that channel is. The only good things on it is Daria and the Adventures of Pete and Pete. Everything else (and those damn commercials- especially that one with the little hispanic womanizer who thinks he's funny... GRR) should be... burned.

And MMUSA... don't get me started. I did this huge rant last summer on the CC about that... like everything else I ever type, it was ignored. MTV2 sucks now too. It's all rap or VMA BLAH BLAH BLAHS. I also wrote them a letter and got ignored. I have given up. Thank God for VH1 Classic.

I've learned to cope with mmusa. I watch it sometimes from 3 to 4:30, when the real stuff is on. MM used to be the ONLY olp media outlet during happiness and sm, and that's how I heard about them. I want to be a canadian too. People think I'm arrogant when I say that, not showing patriotism and shit. I know I'm moving across the lake the first chance I get, no questions asked. Everything America does Canada does better. And Canada doesn't even do it most of the time. I'd be amazed if anyone can understand that little quote besides me. I'm not making sense today.

I'm slowly turning Canadian. I opened an account with TD Trust because stinkin' Fleet Bank charges $5 US every time I use the ABM in Canada. And I'm heading to Montreal and Halifax in November. I'd go to Toronto every weekend if I had money and no thesis to write.

Most of my favorite bands are Canadian. I sometimes spell that word favourite. Toronto and Vancouver are my favourite cities (though I must say Saint John bugs me.)

But as much as I love Canada and hate Bush (I laughed when he was interviewed in a deli on CNN this afternoon), I try not to dis the country I live in.

However, I *did* hear SOT on the radio this afternoon ;)

HaHa,
I was in Toronto so many times last year I had to almost pay taxes. Haha

every time I go to Canada my friends and co-workers ask if I have citizenship yet. I even mentioned this to OLP and they laughed. I just really love Canada. I love the USA also.

I wanted to go to Australia and made a vow that when I returned I was going to go to the States I hadn't been in and the provinces I hadn't been in(except the northwest terrotories). My friend who lived in Toronto told me I have been to more provinces then most Canadians. I have been to 5 now.

If it wasn't for the fact it is colder I serioulsy look into moving to Toronto. I love the city and try to go up at least 1x a year. Going up this October. Hopefully OLP will be playing around that time.

wouldn't matter because I still go up when they do play there.

ARRRRRRGGGGH, I just typed this huge long thing, and then pressed the back button on internet exploder multiple times. flug.

anywho...hahaha to UV as well.

I told Sean McCann of GBS that I opened a bank account, but he didn't find it funny. My friend told me that what I said was stupid, so I agreed and then walked off to find Alan Doyle ;) I pay taxes in Canada, and that's why three of my four OLP CDs are used. (Gravity had $3 CDN in tax on it.) In fact, everyone pays taxes unless they fill out a form.

I've been to five provinces now, and GBS in Halifax will make six. And no, I haven't been to Newfoundland. I've skiied at Whistler and Sunshine Village, attended three Blue Jays games and some BNL events, visited a friend in Montreal (and took another trip where I annoyed more friends), and been to a show in Saint John. I've been to 25 states, 29 if you count the states in which I haven't left the airport. And I have a friend in Ottawa who's just totally amazed that I know who Jean Chretien is.

I would move to Toronto if my parents would let me (they don't want me in another country) and if there weren't national rules that ensured that jobs were given to the current resident who is most qualified for the position.

Since OLP was playing in Boston the day I returned from a BNL concert in Toronto, I bet they'll be playing in Toronto the day I'm in either Montreal or Halifax for a GBS concert.

Back to MMUSA, I hate it, like everyone else. I missed the days, when I could turn it on and I would almost be guaranteed to see OLP. The first time I turned MM on, I saw Thief, and that was the second OLP video I saw (Clumsy being the first.) It was a good day, and now it's all gone....
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.

Is there anyone here that *likes* MMUSA?

Show yourself and give reasons.

I hate MMUSA with a passion, except for when they did a whole show with Sugarcult.Tim saying he had the greatest ass in rock n roll next to Meatloaf made me laugh for hours  and they played the new DIsturbed video that MTV won't play.

At least we still get some MM shows like,The Wedge,The Punk Show,New Music,Much News.
