Something I've noticed about the OLP albums
Something I've noticed about the OLP albums
I remember that Mike was once asked a question about the first three albums being a trilogy, seeing as they all start with songs that have the word "man" in the name. I find it kind of neat to see that the past two albums have the word "you" in common. Maybe we'll see two trilogies.(SP?)
Don't ask questions, just accept it.

weird .. what was Mike's answer to that question? Was it on purpose or did it just kinda end up that way?

"When looking up there, I just felt whole, like I belonged. Like one day I too would shine my most brilliant. Sitting there also made me think about sitting through services at my little country church back home. About that never-changing congregation of the same sixty-seven people and everyone has known you since before you were born. Now, out here in the real world, everything just seemed more vivid than when I used to sit in that little pew. That pew that was now so, so far away from where I was. I feared I had somehow left God behind there, too. I feared he was somehow just sitting there, saving my seat on the fifth pew from the front row, just waiting on me to come back. I left so quickly, I worried that he may not have noticed I was gone. And, now, I’m just too far away to find. So he’s just sitting there, patiently waiting on me to come back. I closed my eyes and prayed a moment. I hoped more than anything that he could still hear me." -an excerpt from my novella, A Sea of Fallen Leaves.

i noticed something strange about happiness... well idk it may not be anything but.. there seems to be this thing with "weight" throughout the cd. here's what i've found..
1. Happiness and the Fish: "I confess everyone is overWEIGHT..."
2. Waited: "Hit the ground, WEIGHED down again..."
3. Thief: "There's a WEIGHT in your eyes that I can't admit."
4. Stealing Babies: "I've been WEIGHED down again..." (*'weighed down again' exact same phrase as in Waited)
Now, if you want to step it up a notch, check out the words that suggest a sort of "weight."
1. Potato Girl: "You feel the madness GAINING." * the verb gain is mentally suggestive of something weighing more and more.
2. PG again: "You feel the constant STRAINING" * perhaps the strain of some sort of weight?
And then if you wanna go real nuts, just check out the homonym of "weight," "wait."
1. Waited- speaks for itself
2. Blister: "WAITING, they're chasing me..."
3. Blister: "I'm WAITING for
Now I know I stretched that whole thing pretty far, but isn't it worth considering that there may be something to it?? maybe there's not, but at least we do get some insight into the artistic tendencies of Raine's mind at the time.

going to bed now....
Haha, I noticed the same thing and I have only listened to two of their CD's. That bugged me about their music, it sounded like they found a good line and used it over ann over again.
I have noticed that OLP has at least 3 references to satellites~ "Supersatellite", "She builds her own satellite...", "To find you on satellite"
