Bad Review!

Post by Stateless »

I was over at http://www.ourladypeace.cc and they linked to a very bad review of Gravity. You can find it here at http://www.outbreed.net/gravity.shtml

The guy totally slags OLP and says that they're fucking shit! I can't believe that people don't understand how good they are. He says he loves Naveed, but then he goes on to say that OLP is horrible! He's totally living in the past! I wrote the guy a nasty e-mail, and I think you should too.

He also wrote a new update on the main page ( http://www.outbreed.net )that has a picture of Raine saying that he sucks! Argggh, I hate people who have nothing nice to say.

It was a nasty review but it was kinda funny  I wouldn't take it too seriously and go write him a nasty letter .. OLP can't please everyone and they're gonna get good AND bad reviews, it's just part of the business. I agree with the article when it comes to Bob Rock though .. he needs to go and I think they made a bad choice by deciding to stay with him for the next album. The truth hurts right? I don't agree with OLP being shit now but I can see where the guy is coming from ..

Don't bother writing hate mail, they want that. His site exists so he can complain and make fun of people so don't feed the fire. Btw, I think Stateless is trying to help the guy out to get more people to complain he only has one post and its about this most likely not even an Olp fan.

I'm totally not trying to help the guy out. I love OLP, and I have since Naveed came out. They've consistently put out great music and it just bothers me when people not in the know totally criticize them.

The magazine Blender ripped Gravity apart. Giving it 2 stars and they compared it to Nickleback and Creed. Then they wrote that it was at least better then their last two tries at being a intelligent band (SM and Happiness). Then after that they gave the new Linkin Park album 5 stars but all they did was rearrange new songs to make them worse. Music Critics

I think a lot of critics simply criticize and rip a band apart cuz they know they'll get a reaction out of people and their newspaper or magazine or whatever will get noticed more .. I think that's why most bands never pay much attention to the reviews .. the writers never seem to know what they're talking about anyway

I agree that the review was pretty harsh, but sadly I agree with it for the most part.

Come on people. Music is subjective. Not everyone loves OLP just because they are your favourite band. If I was given Gravity to review I would probably slate it too. That's just my opinion.

Exactly. Critics are useless. That's like going up to some nobody in the street, and asking them what they thought of the new album. Chances are there are a lot that either won't know what you're talking about, or will hate it. Does that make any difference to you? No! So why should these critics make any difference? They're just the same nobodies. They just get paid for it.

I never pay any attention to reviews.

It's better to ignore them and see a movie or buy a CD for yourself.

I also have to agree with the comparisons he makes between the Naveed era and Gravity now.... especially when the reviewer says, "On Naveed, Maida was fresh and angry letting his emotion just pour out of him. Now he sounds like he’s forcing it all out..."

About the only thing I disagreed with was the extremity of his views.. Gravity isn't absolute shit, it's just got some similarities to absolute shit.

Oh, and the fact that he thought the albums leading up to Gravity were bad, and I have to disagree.. they were just different, in a good way. Gravity.. I can't say the same for.

Why worry about what someone with a pen thinks about an album? Seriously, most of the the critics these days have the job because they're failed musicians. People still listen to 'em, though.
Don't ask questions, just accept it.
