Band Survivor 2002 - Day 18 of 20

Post by nirvanayoda »

Welcome to the www.modernrock.org Band Survivor 2002 contest.

On Day 17, the Incubus force was broken by silverchair and Incubus dissenters in an unlikely turn of events. At any rate, Incubus held power for longer than any other band on the contest (perhaps a day or two longer than Cold), so congrats guys on a job well done :). I really wish someone would register at the 311 board and put my post there (because it won't let me for some odd reason...i'll try again later today though), so it won't be a runaway from this point on. If you had a different post count from me (probably with Incubus having something like 175 votes against them), it's because i didn't count any of the unregistered votes at the Our Lady Peace forum that the other bands found (because they were unregistered), and i didn't count some of the votes at the silverchair.nu board because it was VERY obvious that it was someone who made another account just to vote on that name as well.

To vote, make a post with the band that you'd like ELIMINATED today, and any discussion relevant to game. Here are the bands to choose from with the number of votes they got to be ELIMINATED last round...just to give perspective for you:

Band - Number of votes off last round

311 - 3
Goo Goo Dolls - 21
Our Lady Peace - 2
silverchair - 119

Eliminated so far:

Day 01: The Hives
Day 02: Blink 182 - 28 votes off
Day 03: Nickelback - 43 votes off
Day 04: Papa Roach - 49 votes off
Day 05: Strokes, The - 75 votes off
Day 06: Train - 80 votes off
Day 07: Dashboard Confessional - 113 votes off
Day 08: Weezer - 161 votes off
Day 09: P.O.D. - 109 votes off
Day 10: Dave Matthews Band - 100 votes off
Day 11: Cold - 117 votes off
Day 12: Fuel - 52 votes off
Day 13: System of a Down - 86 votes off
Day 14: Default - 70 votes off
Day 15: Lit - 88 votes off
Day 16: Jimmy Eat World - 115 votes off
Day 17: Incubus - 121 votes off

Rules:

The object of this game is to determine the best band (or one with the biggest following) out of a list of 21...each day, one band gets thrown off the list until there is just one remaining champion.

You can vote here and/or the board you are reading this one. I will select 1 or 2 boards for each band with a decent posting rate, and give that board the opportunity to vote as you see here....if you choose to, you can also vote on www.modernrock.org ...so in theory you could get 2 votes.

This is obviously not strictly an advertisement since the contest is being in part held here in this thread, and there is no need to leave this board to vote...once the band this board is dedicated to is eliminated, i will no longer bug you with updates...but until that point, you can continue posting on this board...after that point, you'd have to go to one of the other boards to vote.

I can only vote in the case of a tie.

The next "Day" will be posted on Monday afternoon or so (please don't panic if i'm a bit late).

Moderators: If you don't want this game taking place at your board, then delete my post, and i won't post again. Thanks!

Enjoy the fun,

Except for OLP, not one of the remaining bands are particularly that good... But yeah, get rid of 311 and the Goo Goo Dolls....

OK, just because I don't like a band doesn't mean you have to say I am wrong. Don't fuck with me, I am not willing to put with anyone's shit.

The same thing happened last night. I say I don't like a band and suddenly I am Hitler for having an opinion. See that word? It's opinion, everyone has one. If you don't like it, deal with it.

I'd vote to eliminate 311.

Everybody vote down 311, then it would be OLP against the Goo Goo Dolls - and it looks like fewer people want to vote off OLP than the Goo Goo Dolls by the votes from the last round.

Are they counting the votes from this thread AND the other forum or just at that Modern Rock site? I went over there to vote against 311 ...

I'm going to vote for Silverchair, only for the fact that they have the most power at this time. They've been generating a solid amount of votes so far, so it'd be wise to take them off, and then get a big chance at winning it all.

Otherwise, OLP will be easy pickings for Silverchair.

So again.. SILVERCHAIR. Even though I like their stuff.. *sniffles*

The number of votes on there was for people who wanted them voted off. Siverchair having 100+ votes compared to OLP's 2 votes means Silverchair is likely the weakest choice of the four. Which means not to vote them off, because they would make an easy opponent for OLP in the final rounds.

Fan In Oregon

Yes, Silverchair had a lote of votes AGAINST them, but that's from the Incubus board. This game has been played on strategy most of the time, and basically, it came down to 121 vs 119 in the Silverchair over Incubus battle. Silverchair fans made most of that 121 for Incubus - so they are pretty damn powerful and NOT easy pickings.

It's why I'm voting for Silverchair again... 311 and Goo Goo Dolls have little representation, and would make THEM easy pickings for the final rounds.

Vote Silverchair!

I will vote Silverchair, just to save OLP

I'm still confused, so let's say OLP has 2 votes against them right now, so they will need 117 votes to be beaten by Silverchair? Or the votes they accumulated does not matter and all the votes are reset to zero.

And where's Radiohead and Matthew Good?

I'll vote 311, heard that one song from them and, just don't like them.
