Dashboard Confessional

Post by nelison »

I think this is my new second favourite band... right behind OLP, I heard of them from a girl that I used to go to school with who had one of those livejournals and they used to always be the songs she was listening to whenever she posted...
So i went out and picked up the CD a few weeks ago not having a clue who they really were or what they sounded like...
All i can say is it's probably one of the biggest surprises I've had in a while,

any other Dashboard fans around? fave songs?

Ahh! I love Dashboard Confessional, I'm wearing a DC shirt right now in fact, weirdness.. Anyways yeah I saw them in concert with OLP a couple months ago and they (or him since it's just technically the one guy) were amazing! Wow, that whole CD is awesome. I know he gets a lot of flack, but whatever, I'm a big fan. Two thumbs up! lol

DC's my new favorite second band too...

I wish that they weren't touring with Weezer...i'd rather just see DC in concert, i'm not really a Weezer fan.

hmm...my favorite songs at the moment: "So Impossible," "For you to Notice," "Swiss Army Romance." Actually, there isn't one DC song that I don't like...

I've been searching for more awesome emo bands like DC on kazaa...my latest is "The Rocking Horse Winner" good stuff.
HARDCORE!!!

OMG. I can't believe I din't think fo you

well so far I only have "the place you have come to fear the most", So i've only been exposed to those 10 songs and I've downloaded "Anyone, anyone?" which is an amazing song.
Their cd's are expensive here for some odd reason, so my gf who works at Walmart talked the ppl in the electronics department into getting DC albums in and they said they'd give it a shot, and the walmart discount should help a bit.

my fave song though is "Again i Go Unnoticed" but heck every song is fantastic

that it is. You win!!! <---i love that smiley, it's so corny

and  I have to admit that I don't actually own any of their cd's. I went online and found out their cd tracks and compiled my own cd. BUT, when I'm not poor anymore, I'm buying all of their cds. I only buy cds when I absolutely love bands, and I absolutely love DC

You should get the So Impossible EP.

I have everything but Summer's Kiss.

Heh, Chris is my hero.

I can't really see it happening unless his sound changes significantly. I'd like to attribute what he's done in terms of popularity already to the fact that people for some reason are letting themselves be moved, since really, that's all his music has to offer.

I don't delude myself into thinking that he's a brilliant songwriter, or anything, I'm just moved by what he's saying. Most people will always think he's "whiny", though.

to me it sounds like he's singing what he's thinking... he has a real knack for putting raw emotion into words, and I think thats what has drawn me to the music. It's really fresh sounding and i find that it almost sounds like he does every song in one take, almost as if he's sitting right there in front of you (especially if you have good spakers)

i think of him as like, the spokesman of the emo movement. now that JEW opened the door for that stuff into the mainstream, all chris needs to do is get off of drive-thru, or at the very least, get a different distributor and he'll be mega famous.

the guy is like the quintessential emo. besides he's already achieved a relatively high level of popularity. he's fairly well known.

I don't know how much tolerance most people have for emo, though.. especially most males. Women will always adore him, though, so maybe you're right. He's emo and good-looking, so he could go far.. or farther, I guess.

One of the major reasons I like DC so much is because of Chris's lyrics...they're so personal and emotional. I saw him in the street, I'd go and give him a big hug because his songs make it sound like his relationship life is so horrible.

heh if I knew the people he writes some of his songs about, I'd go and punch them in the face.

and that's why I think he's getting "popular." he makes people think, "awwwwww."

emoguys are in demand right now. chicks are really into that sensitive thing. as long as that lasts, emo music will be successful. it's what the "other kids" are doing right now. you know, the kids other then preps.

if you like DC for the lyrics check out "her handwriting" by trembling blue stars. that shit will make you people cry. i haven't listend to TBS in a while but that guy writes some sad ass music. the whole first record is about his breakup with a girl from a band he was in before. it is hard to hear what happend to this poor man.

happy ending though. she resurfaces on the second record from TBS doing vocal work so you'd assume they got back together.

Yeah I want to "So Impossible" EP, just don't have the money as of right now, so :( But I agree in that he might be popular if he switched to a major label, but I don't know how long the emo trend will last, but I'm a big fan of most emo music so I hope he doesn't stop making records because the trends over.

Oh and Chris Carabba fans should check out Further Seems Forever, which he used to be the frontman for, it's different, but it's good music either way.

Oh and on the topic of songs that make you cry: "I Remember" by Stabbing Westward, one of my favorite songs, very pretty but sad song.

Dashboard rocks it hardcore. My favorite songs are "Ender Will Save Us All" "The Sharp Hint Of New Tears" "This Ruined Puzzle" "Turpentine Chaser" "Hands Down" and the original "Screaming Infidelities." You have to get The Swiss Army Romance cd, because that's even better than The Places You Have Come To Fear The Most.
I faced death. I went in with my arms swinging. But I heard my own breath and had to face that I'm still living. I'm still flesh. I hold on to awful feelings. I'm not dead... My chest still draws breath. I hold it. I'm buoyant. There's no end.
