Yeah, I feel the same. Almost like it's lacking a crescendo
I was seeing if i could figure out the basic chords of the song on my guitar. The verse and the chorus are the same. Now, that isn't to say that the instruments are necessarily playing the exact same parts for both the verse and chorus... just that they all fit into the the same chord progression. I believe that, coupled with the Bridge's like of melody and lyrics is what makes it seem a little straight forward. I think the vocals sound great though, and am wondering if the song will have a little more going on in the recording, since the band seems to be back in favor of post-production layers again.
I'm wondering what all tracks we are speculating to make cut
Drop me in the Water
Wont Turn Back
Tales from a Grocery List
The Fix
I love Drop me in the water. Lyrics are awesome. Dark song with punch. Great jam at the end even though it sort of spirals like in find our way.
As for the EP that is 'coming soon,' grocery list would be a cool surprise, though I doubt it. I think Won't Turn Back is a thing of the past as well. Perhaps it was reworked, but I'm even doubting the inclusion of The Fix (will be glad to be wrong on that one). Drop me in the water is a definite and after that, I'd guess hiding place for hearts will probably see its way there.
Perhaps that other song they were working on last summer (gimme days when we were young..) may be an option. That had a cool vibe, though it was a bit better during the first recording than when they played it again a few months later.
Agreed on Won't Turn Back. I think it was a one off. I think The Fix, and Drop Me In The Water are highly likely, with Hiding Place For Hearts possible too.

In an interview with the Peterborough Examiner, Duncan said the first single.would be out August 18, and that the first EP would be 4 songs, and the second would be 4 or 5.

That's what we've been saying for years. First we thought we could get it out through the Vault. Don't have a quote, but I have a memory of Raine or Duncan saying they were holding off to release it properly. But I also can't think of any songs that failed the cut ever making the next album. The guys seem to make some songs, then move on. That "if it didn't make the first album, its not good enough to make the second" attitude.
So I saw the boys in Brantford tonight. Raine said the album would be available in two-weeks and two days. He said it's already up there (pointing to the sky) but it's up to the Apple's and the Spotify's as to when it's released.
Thanks for that, it was my first time listening and it sounds good!

I don't think there was ever an official press release, but yes he is officially a member. All of their new promotional photos include him now. Touring members were never included in promo photos in the past. There was one picture with Jamie Edwards after he was made official in 2002, and a photo of the band with Joel Shearer that was taken for Live 8 in 2005, even though Joel was not an official member of the band.

I agree, something more official would have been "classier" for lack of a better term. But something that this band has been poor at since dropping the label, is the PR stuff.
Case-in-point there's a collection music that's coming out in the next nine days or so (maybe), that's been teased seven or eight times previously throughout the last 3 years and we don't know it's name, if it's an album or an EP, the exact release date and there's no lead single pre-released.
I don't think it's out of disrespect to Jason, or the fans, it's just the fact that artists keep shitty books and worse time tables.
Finally, Raine says the first of two EP's will be out August 15th [Edit: Sources confirm this is not correct], and will include Drop Me In The Water on the album.
What source? The article that referenced a single out on the 18th? It's to the point where if they said it would release in twenty minutes you'd expect something wonky to happen within that timeframe.
