Noooo, stop making it sound so good! I'm going through withdrawal symptoms here!
Re: OLP says "f you retail, we got black monday instead!"
I don't understand all the hype for Vampires... Didn't we already have it? I never cared for the version of the Demo much, and now that I'm listening to the full version, I dunno how its even different from what we had before. To me, it all just sounds like more HIPT. Some of it is better than what made the album, but all of it falls short to me of the bands artistic capabilities.
Not ungrateful for free music, but so far, Immune is the only vault song that's blown me away. I have a feeling we will continue to get something of the 45ish songs from HIPT with a few earlier gems here and there.

What's good about it are the verses and the bridge. They're a lot more detailed and layered than Wont Turn Back, for example. The chrous works but that's not the part that makes the song kick. It's the insane energy in it that never stops.

Well obviously. They didn't record anything close to that number of songs until HIPT, so logic would say there'd be more HIPT to release.Tinman wrote:I have a feeling we will continue to get something of the 45ish songs from HIPT with a few earlier gems here and there.
Anyway, anxiously awaiting when I can sit down and listen.

Okay the facebook fiends are satisfied with Vampires. Can we bug olp to release a recording of Our Time is Fading now?

Re: OLP says "f you retail, we got black monday instead!"
Vampires never did anything for me. I'm glad this one is out of the way so people can let it go. Bring on Trapeze.

This Vampires release is okay, but I miss the version that ends with Jer and the DJs talking about if the label's gonna sue them for playing too much of it.
(in all seriousness, I pretty much agree with the general tone here--glad it's out, but mostly so we can move on to other stuff)

The live version already sounds enough "studio'ish" with crowd vocals thrown over it.ShatsBassoon wrote:Im hoping for a studio recording of "our time is fading" but that's just me.

Funny, because Immune is a song that we DID already have, and not Vampires. And the fact that it sounds like more HIPT is probably because it IS from HIPT...which already was a great album.Tinman wrote:I don't understand all the hype for Vampires... Ah, damn! I was hoping it was the version from the in-studio video. I think that's the one Steve said they couldn't find. It sounded a lot fuller and I loved that soft, gentle transition.
This is still enjoyable though. Solid rocker for the warm weather approaching. This will get some spins.

Here's the version I was talking about and likely the one Steve was referring to btw, for anyone who might not have heard it

All loved Vampires. First time hearing the whole song. Love the energy of the song. After only hearing the early youtube version, I kept waiting for people to starting talking over the song after about a minute or so .

What happened to that soft part is right?!?!MindsOnLoan wrote:Here's the version I was talking about and likely the one Steve was referring to btw, for anyone who might not have heard it

and if i don't make it know that i've loved you all along.

I think Bob muted one of the tracks, or several on the console to cause that soft spot.

I just don't get how people expected something else. It's just math lol. If most of the vault is HIPT songs, then we're obviously getting mostly HIPT songs.

See, I can do it too without out-sourcing.
