Similar to how the recreation tours sparked Curve, I'm curious to hear if digging through their old material for The Vault will have a similar effect.

It sounded to me like the new album was mostly finished and going through production and mixing. In which case, I feel like the Vault's influence will not be heard until the next-next album, barring another Jason Lader event that results in a tear-down and re-do of the tracks already recorded.

From what I've gathered, they're still writing and still probably far from the finish line for the next record. I thought they'd just been writing and recording off and on, they had more or less finished recording at least 3 songs with Mike Elizondo by the time Won't Turn Back was released, and they've continued working, but I don't recall hearing any details.

I think reviewing old material could inspire them in some way or another. Or, perhaps, they'll choose to use a Curve leftover on the new album instead of releasing it through the Vault. I'm curious if they might add one or two of these old rarities into their sets when they tour again.

I reborn this thread here Raine before the buzzfest told that they're trying to finish the new album for christmas and then to release early in 2016 and of course confirmed that the record will be produced by Arnold Lanny, just can't wait.....well we have a lot of information (Duncan told that they'd like to release an EP before the end 2015)...then i think that probably the 2016 will be the right year for the new record....damn i can't believe that the latest record was in 2012...it's been a lot of time!

A sad record has been surpassed..

It is now officially the longest period ever between OLP albums, over 4 years since curve on April 2012... previous was just under 4 years from HIPT to BB.

And still no drummer... is this the end guys?

I don't think that this is the end (they have also some dates in summer) but well it's obvious that they take their time to make music...and i don't know why...as for the drummer well i think that Jason Pierce is the one (he played live and he recorded also something in studio)...but we haven't any announcement...this is kinda strange of course

I think the bands been around long enough, and works well enough with the current 3 member line up, that a permanent drummer may never happen. The guys seem to know how to drum well enough between Steve and Duncan, and I mostly expect them to have studio/travel drummers moving forward, playing the content they write. Additionally, it wouldn't be unheard of for the band to have guest drummers collaborate with them.

They're all old and have families, and they are also playing a few upcoming shows. I expect the band to be pretty slow with their content moving forward, but I don't see any indication that they're finished writing and releasing music under the OLP brand. Especially with the amount of work they've done over the last few years working with various producers. I think we'll get some stuff, maybe not as soon as we'd like, but within ~2 years time. What that is, i' not sure. The band has talked a lot about moving away from the typical cd-release method, as times are changing and so is the music medium.

That's probably exactly everything I was going to post, haha. I think they understand they aren't going to be selling out arenas across Canada anymore, and are perfectly ok with that. Each have enough going on outside of OLP to keep them busy and in good financial standing. Raine has revenue from songwriting, producing, and making music with Chantal. Duncan has and is producing albums for several indie bands around Toronto. Steve is in California making music for TV shows, video games, and other projects. They have a formula that works for them, and that is probably what they will stick to. Sucks for us hardcore fans, but the reality is they don't have to turn out a new album every 1-2 years anymore, and they won't.
