WE ALL GET LIGHTER - Raine Maida's Sophomore solo Album
Re: WE ALL GET LIGHTER - Raine Maida's Sophomore solo Albu
He says by Tuesday Pachamama will be released! I cornered him on the radio. He feels like an ass about the dates he keeps promising.

lol, good work!
Re: WE ALL GET LIGHTER - Raine Maida's Sophomore solo Albu
Interview with Robert Frezza from examiner.com came out today. It was the standard stuff the band has been preaching about Curve. Then Raine let out some information pertinent to his solo work:
Q: Any other solo albums from Raine Maida anytime soon? And looking back on Hunter’s Lullaby did you find that to be a good cathartic release at that time in your career?
A: Dropping a handful of songs on rainemaida.net next week! I am loving the direction and sound my solo work has evolved into. Plan is to keep putting up mixtapes or EP's every few months than have a proper release out before Xmas...and some solo shows scattered amongst the OLP touring in 2012.
So, it seems as though the info we've been getting about a release in the near future seems correct. Some sort of confirmation of a specific date would be nice, but either way I'm excited to have lots of new music to listen to shortly
Here's the link for those interested, though it came up on OLP's facebook feed, so many of you should have already seen it, or will be seeing it soon:

Well, we're into the middle of next week now, and no update. Not that I'm surprised or anything
Anybody have any new information?

Yeah, they've started tour rehearsal so I'm thinking we should not be counting on seeing anything solo from Raine anytime soon. He has good intentions... he just lacks a sense of time and reality when he comes up with these ideas. He'd have to be a superhero to get all things done in the time frame he envisions...
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

I think he mentioned in the Pod Zeppelin interview that once OLP rehearsals start he will be too busy with OLP... it's possible that he did get it finished up but it hasn't been released quite yet, but who knows.

Bastard!
Raine in an interview with the Montreal Gazette mentioned releasing the songs a couple days ago but didn't want to disrupted OLP:
"I literally sent them to my guy that does the website so he could upload them and fired an email: “You know what? Stop. Don’t put them up. I can’t do this.”'

Quote from the Montreal Gazette:
Gazette: I have to ask about your new solo album – what factored into the delays behind it and whether it’s still coming soon-ish?
Maida: You know what? I almost put out three songs yesterday. I have a bunch of songs that are done – it’s such a tough thing, because I’m in OLP world and obviously talking about the record and rehearsing, and I just felt like, “You know what? There’s something weird about it.” And I’m so excited about this stuff. I really like where all the solo stuff is. But I just don’t want it to compete with OLP, and I think I need to have a little bit of sensitivity. Unfortunately, it got to where OLP took longer than we thought – I was going to put up the stuff two or three months in advance of the OLP record, so it wasn’t a big deal, but to throw out the songs right now, I don’t feel like it’s right. So I’m going to wait until the tour ends at the end of April, and the record will have been out for a month or so, so a couple weeks after that I’ll put up four or five songs and hopefully it won’t be a big deal. It’ll feel more natural. I literally sent them to my guy that does the website so he could upload them and fired an email: “You know what? Stop. Don’t put them up. I can’t do this.” (Laughs)
Gazette: Is it just going to be those four or five songs now? After what you were saying about loving full albums …
Maida: What I want to do, instead of just putting out the record, I have a lot of songs done – I want to put out four or five songs, probably in the first couple weeks of May, then another four or five songs in the summer, and then maybe in the fall I want to do a really nice box set or something, because I’ve been documenting some of the stuff I’ve been doing and there’s a lot of programming I’ve been getting into myself, so just showing people where my head’s at and put out a nice package before Christmas with 14 or 15 songs and a bunch of extra stuff. Maybe get people into the process of doing this and what it is for me. Why’s it different, why’s it special. So I think by the end of the year there’ll be something really interesting, and that way people get to hear four or five new songs every few months and see where it’s going, and then this bigger thing.
Then for a month only OLP guys! And MAYBE on May there will be the solo's stuff!

First of all, no news, so don't get excited people
However, with the tour over, and Raine's previous quotes about having something in early May, let's all keep and eye out for new solo material. I won't say that I'm tired of Curve yet, in fact I love it more now than i did a few weeks ago, but the thought of some new Raine tunes to listen to has me very impatient....hopefully we'll all be spoiled for choice very soon (a rarity for OLP fans, I admit). Again, nothing to get excited for at the moment until we hear some sort of official word from the guys or trusty, but something to keep in mind.

If not, I'm sure we'll hear something in August!

I think he'll release an EP between now and OLP's fall tour, and the album probably in winter or spring of 2013.

I meant something live at Jackson Triggs. Not the album! I'm not even going to guesstimate a release date at this point.

Lets all get Raine plastered at Jackson Triggs and maybe he will give us a copy of the demo's and we can share them. It may sadly be the only way we here them before the impending end of the world

OLP time is contagious. Chantal's site said she was getting an updated website on May 4th. That day has come and gone and not a thing has changed. lol
