Re: New Album in 2012 - "Curve" April 3rd
the download became available today also. Can only do one time though.
Josh When I bought my ticket for their concert on the BB tour at box office I paid $10 extra to get cd at venue..
As for this cd. I am really digging it. I did not listen to any clips, recordings etc . The actual cd was the first time I heard the songs. Though one of the songs guitar I sort of remember someone sending to me to listen to.
I think cd is nothing like any of their past material. I think very melodic. I can see playing cd and chilling with glass of wine. I can see even having in background as you meditate.
Songs. I am proud of what they have accomposihed and honestly do not realy see any of them being played on *commerical* radio..
I can see As Fast As You Can becoming the audience sing along/clap along( though to fans like ouselves that is every OLP song). I mean to non crazy people like ourselves. People just at the show. It reminds me of the 60's great upbeat pop songs. Think The Beatles I Saw Her Standing There. THough I could not get the movie 'THAT THING YOU DO" song out of my mind after hearing it.
Allowance and and Fire in The Henhouse almost have that Kings Of Leon feel with the guitar. I call it the rubberband effect.
Windowseat, If This Is It, Mettle would be cool to see with lit candles cause just has that kind of vibe with me
Is it Raine or Steve/Duncan doing the backing vocals though?

I dunno about the rest of you but I've spent so much on CD's, concerts and merch over the last 15 years, and I will continue to do so.
The thing that is really bugging me is the amount of people on this forum with one or two posts that are asking for the album...
Just want to say, that while I'm one of those people, I will most certainly be buying the CD when I can afford it (I doubt I'll find it in any record shops in the UK very easily for a while (if ever), so I'll have to important and shipping usually costs the same price or more than the CD). I still buy albums, and I have every past one by OLP and don't intend to not complete the set.

My sister and I plan on getting out to the mall in the next few weeks, but I've been too busy between work and finishing off my comic book to sell at an expo here in Calgary that I haven't had much time to get out haha. Once I do though, I'm totally picking up the record. I want to hear everything super clear because there is a lot of interesting sounds in here and I'd like to incorporate stuff like that into my own music as well

I meant to comment on the one-time download thing too. The fact that you can only download a digital copy of an album once when you paid for it is absolutely ridiculous to me. It devalues the point of having one even more and there's no reason for it -- HMV.ca lets you redownload any song you've purchased from their online store as many times as you want.
As for songs with guitars that remind me of Kings Of Leon, If This Is It reminds me of them musically. I dunno if it's the reverb on the vocals or the guitar tone/effects but it just reminds me of them for some reason.

Why would you need to download it again, though? Once you have it, what would it serve to do it again?

I have some movies on blu-ray that came with an iTunes download code, but they somehow were corrupted while downloading through iTunes. Apparently they were one-time downloads too, so that was lame. Not a big deal for me though.

Now that I'll credence to. I wasn't thinking about not actually getting the first download to begin with. Then it kinda sucks.

Well there's the possibility of the file getting corrupted or losing your internet connection while downloading for one. Also, if you lose your CD and/or your computer goes down... you don't have those mp3s again. Yes, you can go find them on a torrent site or whatever but my point is that it detracts from the usefulness of this download that you can only access it once. You can access a CD you've purchased as many times as you want so why should a digital copy be any different? I just think that it's a stupid restriction.

I also meant to ask, does anyone have a link for the original version of If This Is It? There was a video on youtube of the version that someone ripped from their ustream broadcast but now I can't find it. I really just want to listen and compare it to the final version of the song.

I actually like this original version better than the cd copy. I really like the cd copy, but don't care for the chorus... this would have made it in the top songs rather than the bottom songs of the album for me.
Still a good song, just prefer this rough version. But i'm also a fan of raines old singing style, and i think think thats why

Even here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dX1qQuaGiY
You can can hear it a little more at the forefront in the mix during the outro. Still outstanding to me though.
I think I am in the same place. While there's nothing I'd want taken out of the album version, some more falsetto would've been nice. I have to say though, I do prefer the album version because it's a lot tighter and more concise. I feel like the original version wanders a bit more and seems a bit more aimless. I think I like the extended outro on the original version though... it just makes the song sound that much more epic. For some reason I could picture that song being played at an outdoor show, the extended outro just echoing into a warm summer night. lol
Seriously though, does anyone else think that song would be awesome with the extended outro live as the second last tune before 4 a.m.? I think it would work really well.

On iTunes Canada, Heavyweight is now the #5 rock song, which is the highest I've seen it (its also at 141 overall). As Fast as You Can and Will Someday Change are also charting at #89 and #173. I guess the release of Curve has people downloading older tracks too, as Innocent is at 85, 4am at 116, Somewhere Out There at 168, and Superman's Dead at 169. Curve is #2 on the Rock charts and #6 overall. A Decade is at 13 on the rock charts and 85 overall. Clumsy is at 114 on the rock charts.
Guess Curve has people interested in the band again lol.

Promotion has been pretty good for Curve. Burn Burn virtually had none.
So, when do we expect to see this album package that trustworthy has mentioned. Also, this album is coming out on vinyl right?
