OLP Urban Grind Tour (2012)
Re: OLP Urban Grind Tour (2012)
I wonder if this is gonna be similar to the piano version. They do have keyboardist now.

If you search for OLP on twitter, someone posted a picture of the set list.

I had a pretty good feeling Allowance would be the opener based on the sound at the beginning. I have to admit, I was hoping the set would be a bit longer... closer to 20 songs... but I'm sure the show is still gonna great!

I sort of hope it's different (acoustic guitar with keys for added atmosphere instead of piano with guitar for added atmosphere).

In past tours, the first shows have been a little shorter and by the end of the tour they're playing 1 or 2 more per show.

No... not by any means. I'm sure they are going to change things up, as they have hinted at. I think 'Allowance' as the opener is a safe bet for this tour, however. I could be wrong, though...

Yeah, you're right... good point. It's tough to judge after only one show.

But already it's 1 more song than the average Burn Burn show. Assuming the setlist even matches what they really played!

What surprises me about that setlist: no Starseed OR Naveed! I was expecting one or the other between those two at any given show.
I think it'd be cool if they didn't print out the encore songs on the setlist, just pick 15 or so for the main set, and after that do what feels right.

In Repair was actually In Repair/Naveed. Not sure if they'll be doing that all the time though. And I guess Thief was cut from the show.
As to the person who said the average Burn Burn show was shorter...true, but we also got a full CD played on top of that.

Re: OLP Urban Grind Tour (2012)
True, but the "Evening With" was two sets -- the "regular" Burn Burn shows were almost always 16 songs. I think it would make a decent length show if they work it up to about 19 songs per night (6-7 from Curve and 12-13 older). But even if they stick to 16/17 songs per night, as long as they're changing stuff up it should make really interesting shows.
I'm guessing In Repair/Naveed probably won't be done like this the whole tour. Can't wait to hear a recording, those two should fit naturally together as a medley. I think they've paired them once before in 2010 but I don't think that performance was recorded.

Re: OLP Urban Grind Tour (2012)
It looks like the kind of setlist that they would use to sorta get themselves warmed up. Lots of songs they are familiar with, and a few they are trying for the first time. It is the first show of the tour after all.
I also think that Allowance will probably be the opener of this tour and it looks like Paper Moon is probably going to be their closer from now on, which is pretty fantastic. I wouldn't be surprised to see Starseed come back in, possibly to close the main set before the encore. Great work on the setlist pic!

Not sure if this was mentioned but on the official site they have some new t-shirts and posters. I think the triangle type shirt looks a lot like one of the thirty seconds to mars shirts that they had last tour. Kind of digging the new merch.

Re: OLP Urban Grind Tour (2012)
I was there last night....Paper moon was not the closer, 4am was the closer, contrary to what the setlist says.
Also, thief was cut from the set....what a disappointment that was....especially since it shortened the set to 16 songs....I wish they would play at least 20...its shouldnt be too much to ask for a band with 8 records and almost 20 years of material.
Aside from the set being a little shorter than expected, it was a very good set. The new songs sounded great, Julia was the piano version but played with only acoustic guitar (if that makes sense)...just raine and steve.....Raine's voice was fantastic all night....Also, Robin was a great addition on keyboards

Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

That was the biggest disappointment of the Burn Burn tour was the short sets. So much material, so little tour time in the last decade, lay it on us man!
