One thing I noticed about the song "As Fast As You Can"...

I don't know if they plan to release this as a single, but it seems like it can really find a niche on radio. However, it doesn't feel forced as a single, if that makes sense. Since Steve joined the band, you can count on maybe two fingers the singles they've released that don't feel forced. Think about it... "Somewhere Out There," "Innocent," etc. The lead single from the last album was forced AND a terrible song.

This one seems like a really natural type of pop energy, kind of like they used to have.

Regarding the vocals, it's a very restrained falsetto, but you sure see it often, I like it a lot. There's no Car Crash moments here, but still very cool. Raine done good.

ok lets try, after 3 listens

Allowance - 7.5/10 Love the alarm like noise, kind of reminds me of Escape Artist, but taken even further and better production.

Fire In the Henhouse- 8.5 The wolf without the wolf part, love the song, still has most of the awesome parts from the wolf (DAT BASS)

Heavyweight - 8 Well we all know what thats like

Window Seat- 7.5 Really good song, but let down that the crazy guitar at the end isn't as awesome as the live version

As Fast As You Can- 9 Can't wait to hear this on the Radio, Poppy but Raine's singing is TOP notch on this, and holy fucking catchy. This song should totally be in a movie, no joke.

If This Is it- 10 Chilling, honestly in my top10 fav OLP songs. Amazing Build up, I could have this on repeat all day

Will Someday change- 8.5 hauntingly beautiful, This is Raine's song

Find Our Way- 8.5 Great Guitar just sexified all over this song, Steve's song for sure specially the outra MELTING FACES

Rabbits- 8.5 I love the shifts in this song, very somber, reminds me of stuff from SM at points. Would give it an 8, but the second half brings it up more. Like I said very SM like

Mettle- 8 Dark, Haunting instrumental, very SM as well with the spoken word elements, has a Nirvana-Something in the way kind of vibe, nice way to end the CD

I'm really glad to see how on fire the boards are about this album. I didn't check the thread last night and logged in to find 10 new pages worth of praise.

I'm in the states, so, i've only got the 30 second clips. I'll likely hear the album live before I manage to get my hands on my autographed copy (unless a soul who actually pities us yanks wants to pm a link to me). I had come to the conclusion that this is album resurrected the band for me, and it sounds like i've gotten nothing but confirmation after last nights stream. Can't wait to hear the whole thing.

For U.S pre-orders, its established that we won't get them in america until the 17th? Or are they sending out on the 3rd?

Anyhow, just texted my older sister... she's a huge fan of the first 4 albums too, and I let her know that people are ranking this as the best album since SM. She was stoked. The bands always really reached us on this far-out-hippy-psuedo-spirtual level, and its really great to have them to look forward to again.

I honestly consider this Olps 5th album, the previous 3 are absolute garbage compared to this marvel of workmanship

^I believe all pre-orders (U.S. and Canada) should ship to arrive on the 3rd.

Hey Trusty?

Any love for the fans state side? While I'm envious of the neighbors to the North, OLP is touring starting next week in the US. It would be nice to get a listen to some of the new material going into the show.

Good analysis, though i would give Find Our Way a 10, I'm totally in love with that song...also i dunno, i'm not feeling Fast as You Can as the rest of you...seems a bit confusing to me, but maybe it's my speakers.

todddowney wrote:Find Our Way is a definite 10 track for me. I like Fast..but I'm not in love with it. Near the bottom for me early.

Early favorites:

If This Is It
Rabbits
Find Our Way
Henhouse
Heavyweight (stayed away from it, so it's still pretty fresh to me)

Agree with you. You're lucky to have stayed away from Heavyweight too, cause it kinda sticks out for me now. I know I should have waited, but I couldn't help myself :D

It's a falsetto in Paper Moon's style! I really love all the songs except Mettle that i consider like a RK! And i want to tell that besides Steve on this record we have also Duncan that really shines! And also Jer....definitely Raine's voice is really inspired! I love all!! If i would rate the album for me he can go on the podium of my favorites albums...i need more listen!

I'm so happy to be inspired, proud and happy about what this band is producing again, honest to god it has been over a decade since I could say that

And you know when people are fighting over what songs should be 10/10 and 9/10 that you have one fucking awesome cd!

I will say that I'm excited to hear the actual disc or CD rip because there's definitely a lot going on in these tunes that is muddied by the low quality of the web rip
