Hey guys, does anyone know if this clip from the studio sessions is a song included on the album?

As of right now, that track is completely unknown, so there is no real answer if will be on there or not. Atleast until we get all the song clips.

From the moment I saw the tracklist, I've had my fingers crossed that this one is "Will Someday Change" or "Mettle." I think it's a possibility -- but none of us know for sure yet (except for Mr. Trustworthy).

In terms of studio clips I want to hear on the album, I really dug this one:

I wanted the last bit of this video

And I really would've liked to hear this part at 9 seconds in the wolf (pretty sure it's a version of the wolf)

Not to jump to the topic a vocals again, but Naveed vocals are the closest to how he sings now, minus some yelling and the throat ripping voice cracks.

And I have to say, I really dug his vocals in the 30 seconds of Rabbits. Instead of the fluidness of BB, he seems to be adding variety to them. I approve, as of now.

Great marketing strategy.

OLP sure is lucky they have so many people who refuse to share, (especially compared to the Tragically Hip or PJ communities) if I had a copy I know I would. (Ransom, I'd demand a full release of warnings as a b-side giveaway leadup within 24 hours or it would be on the hub and sent by PM on here - no torrents though) Reminds me of those jerks who have the second half of the Naveed demo but wouldn't share that with the community.

Its not being a jerk. It's treating a member of the forum and part of the OLP family with respect. A mistake was made, he asked to keep it quiet.

Not releasing demos and music that will be out in a week is completely different.

It's not about "refusal" to share, it's about respect as DG said. When Heavyweight got out, it was kept quiet because people here love and respect the band and Trusty too of course. Mistakes happen, sure it happens all the time, but the guys shouldn't have to pay for it because of us. In fact, if there's any place on the internet that I would hope that they DO trust, it's right here at the CM.

On a different topic relating to the album, I wonder when the next clip will be coming? They've seemed to be coming every couple of days or so, but I'm assuming with the Heavyweight video coming out that we won't get one til later in the week. Hoping for Window Seat :)

I think we'll keep getting the clips at the same pace... just a hunch, though. Especially since the full album will be available for streaming next week. The clips will become somewhat irrelevant at that point because we'll have the full songs. In any manner, looking forward to what's in store next. Definitely the most pumped I've been for an OLP album since Gravity.

Totally agree with you there jonny, clips won't mean much by next week. So if they're going to get out, as Trusty implied that they would, they need to come pretty fast and furious.

You're right, hence the ransom. If warnings isn't going to see the light of day and won't cut into album sales why does the band refuse to drop the b-side to .net ? We all know virtually every b side has never been released - and warnings blows the last one that was out of the water! (Fight the Good Fight).

I'd rather a full cut of warnings as a way to satiate us over these sessions then 30 second clips devised as a "teaser". I don't think I've ever seen another band drop a free b-side to promote an album, but then most bands b-sides aren't as strong as OLP, so maybe that's why

But I guess we all will just have to watch OLP bin warnings like so many other awesome b sides, and demos.

Save the clips for amazon, give us something unique and exciting to get us interested.

:gravity:

I don't think they are in the business of releasing music just because they can. If they aren't 100% comfortable releasing something (whether it be a b-side, demo, etc.), they shouldn't be forced to release it purely to appease their fan base.

How does giving us a song that is NOT on the record promote the album. There is a reason no other band has done this and never will. It does nothing to promote the album if its not even on it.

I am all for the b-sides coming out one day, I would absolutely love it. But your reasoning to release warnings instead of clips of songs that are actually on the record makes no sense at all. Its just what you would like to happen. And it wont. They are promoting the album they are releasing, not the stuff they didnt want on that album.

Are you failing to see that we are all talking about the clips, positive and negative, and discussing what else the songs might have to offer? These clips are creating a major buzz on here, and thats what the band is looking for...hyping the album that is coming soon....and they are doing a great job getting us excited about it.

Keep those clips coming Trusty....we are 2 weeks away!!!!

Actually, in the hip-hop industry, artists will often drop free songs or entire mixtapes as a way to promote an upcoming album. It gets fans excited and with the artists' names getting back out there after being quiet for awhile, it might bring a few new fans on board as well as bring back in some old ones. If the non album tracks are quality, it can go a long way.

I realize the fanbases for rock and rap are pretty different and it might not have the same effect.. just saying releasing non album tracks can and are used to promote albums.

I'm calling it now: We will never see any b-sides from OLP ever released. I'd love to be proven wrong, but their track record is a warning.

Refusing to share is not the same thing as respecting a specific request made by the band's people.

The Personal Parade/Edge of Sanity/Big Neon Crossing demo thing was completely different... some lunatic on a power trip made a website with the 20 second clips and a list of 20 or 30 completely ridiculous, fake demands that had to be met before he would share the full songs. You mentioned ransom -- how does it feel?

Sure, the members and admins on the CM have been assisting with leak control since Healthy in Paranoid Times out of respect for the band's wishes. But everything that we have shut down was just about to be officially released anyway.

Or should I say... almost... everything?

Well, It's not COMPLETELY unheard of. Like putting a song on a movie soundtrack before a big release that isn't on the full album. I'd argue they're getting more people bitching than they are excited, at least judging by this thread.

Part of marketing is doing something different to stand out, I guess you don't understand. Dropping clips on the web is as bread and butter as it gets. Streaming the album is a nice idea but also very norm. OLP used to be a LOT more creative about hyping its new releases. In fact they were one of the first to stream an entire album back to back. It's not crazy to do something no one has done before, it's how you do it and what attention it garners. Dollars to donuts if OLP dropped a full b-side for free it would light up twitter and the blogsphere a lot faster than 30 second clips.

You realize no matter WHAT they release an OLP forum is going to be eating it up and discussing it right? Clips or full songs? Promotion is more about bringing more people into the fold, than converting the faithful.
