WE ALL GET LIGHTER - Raine Maida's Sophomore solo Album
I understand everything that goes on and why this happened but, the only reason I am upset is because I'm sure they were aware they weren't going to make the date date because of OLP before the very last day, and they waited to change the site on the day of at noon when there are people sitting there refreshing the page excited too get this. A couple days heads up would have been the right thing to do.

It may or may not be true that they knew a few days earlier, and even so they may or may not have a strict review and approval procedures that are followed before making any changes to the website. The lack of tweets could be Raine disrespecting y'all, or maybe he just wasn't sure if they were gonna make the date or not and didn't want to draw extra attention to it from followers who had forgotten about this. There's really no way to know for sure. I can see why it's frustrating not to get what we expected when we expected it though.

I think this is exactly what has people upset. And tons of people around here like to be apologetic for the band and that happens with tons of things, I.E. all the Apple cultists that buy and back anything that company does. Guess what, Raines human, he CAN do wrong, and in this instance he did. Even if something tragic happened, a rep can easily post something on twitter or even on his site saying it will be delayed. And people are right when they say the band doesn't owe us shit, but don't slap your fans in the face and expect them not to tell you it hurts.

oh hey there.
Just wanted to let you know that this was a last minute thing, emergency OLP curve things to tend to! I realize some of your are pissed off / disappointed that is understandable for sure...but you know how it goes, OLP comes first especially right now
I am not making excuses but I don't think some of you realize how busy things are right now...pretty insane, album to finsih, the tour, all the artwork, some other new stuff for the fans
, promo etc etc -and pretty much everything has to be done in the next week or so to ensure the release date is met and to ensure the train keeps rolling full speed down the track.
I can tell you this delay was not planned, I didn't know about until day off (15 mins before the site changed), which means he probably realized it not too soon before that
I know he has been working his ass of on it and is excited to get it out there but I'm guessing he just didn't feel the music was done and didn't want to release something he was not 100% on...and I can definitely appreciate and respect that.
I am sure once Curve is all done (this week) we will get some news from him on this stuff.

Get over it, peeps!
Look, I understand why some of you are upset. Music was supposed to be released and it wasn't... things are happening with OLP and I could imagine that takes much higher precedent than Raine's solo work right now.
I get it, you feel that Raine or somebody from management should have let the fans know beforehand. Maybe they should have. We do not know the circumstances nor when exactly they knew that the music wouldn't be ready for release. What's done is done. We all know now.
Look, there is soooooooooooooo much music out there. When I heard Raine wasn't releasing anything yesterday, I said "Dammit", smoked a Belmont, ate some beef jerky and listened to The Young Giant because they are a band I have been wanting to listen to for awhile now. See what I did there? I turned a negative (not getting new music from Raine) into a positive (exploring new music).
I'm not saying anybody is wrong in all of this... but rather, can we just move on? OLP is five weeks away from releasing a new album and I was really enjoying all of the positive energy on the board. It has kept me coming back frequently over the past few months. I just hate to see people get so upset over something that a) they have no control over, and b) will work itself out eventually.
Please don't go all Chuck Norris on my ass... I'm not targeting anyone or saying that anybody is wrong in all of this. Can we just do our best to keep things positive around here?

Official excuses from Raine's Twitter
"apologies the Solo stuff is postponed. rewrote a cpl OLP songs at the 11th hour. hoping to post solo work in 2 weeks. thx for the patience"
I wish that the situation around OLP album it's not chaotic!

Musicians need to know that if they have a side project that they're giving away for free, that it's more important than the one they're getting paid for, and they should let nothing stand in the way of distributing their free shit.

Already said it wasn't about the delay, it was about the lack of information so FOH.

And for Trusty letting us know it wasn't planned and he didn't know until 15 minutes beforehand, its forgiven.
But as far as Raine goes saying it'll be up in two weeks, gotta call bullshit there lol. I'm doubting he wants to release a project precisely a month before the OLP record.

Cute. I seem to recall singling you out specifically in that post. People will get the music eventually. It didn't come out the day it was planned to. Shit happens. Something that ranked in priority took it's place. So hang in there, and you'll get it somewhere down the road. No sense exploding because we didn't get 4 or 5 free songs, and no one said anything about it until the day of. I highly doubt that someone sat back and said "Watch this, I'm gonna intentionally fuck with these people *maniacal laugh*."

I don't care too much about this because I'm not a huge fan of the first solo album, but I don't think you (xjsb) get why some of these people are upset. It has nothing to do with the actual product and more to do with the communication. I think they feel like Raine or OLP or whoever doesn't care about them at all as fans, and no one took the time to even let them know there would be a delay.
The whole reason Trusty and I got off on the wrong foot was because of something like this, when he promised me that a show wouldn't be cancelled and then it was, even after I had booked time off work, etc.
In this case all it would have required was a single tweet ahead of time saying something like "release of songs might be delayed a bit, but it will be soon!" and it would have made everything better. It would have taken 30 seconds, and for people to think "they don't even care to take 30 seconds to acknowledge we care so much about this stuff" sucks, because it hurts.
It's not about the actual delay, it's about thinking that someone didn't even bother to think about you or your expectations. So back off a bit.

I can not believe how bent out of shape people are getting over this. Geez. like none of you ever said y ou do something, be somewhere at a certain time and then for whatever reason could not make it or do it..
Raine's stuff will come out when it comes out. You have to remember OLP is his bread and butter. His day job and that is where he is needed most now.. The solo stuff is another way for him to express himself outside of OLP ..
Who realy cares when you get this stuff?. As long as it comes out. Does it matter if it is days, weeks or even months later..
