Was looking forward to this, for sure.

I'm disappointed too, but at least they're still making music we love. For that, I'm very grateful. The longer it takes just makes it that much better. Music should not ever be rushed just for the sake of the fans. As we all know, musicians make music for themselves, fans come second. That's the way it should be.

No ones asking anything to be rushed, I sure as hell want them to take as much time as they need with both OLP and Raine's solo projects. However, don't put a release date on them. If come April 3rd OLP announces that the album is "Coming Soon", I would be just as disappointed as I am today.

Most people will probably try to sugarcoat this whole situation, but honestly there's no fucking excuse. If OLP is taking longer than expected and the mixtape isn't ready, he should have let fans know when he realized this instead of just putting a notice on the site the DAY OF. Ridiculous, and pretty unprofessional.
It is definitely unprofessional. The above post has it right: don't put a release date on something and then change it the day people are expecting it. Plenty of time to know that things aren't ready. I understand that music cannot be rushed but I don't understand how putting a release date if you're not 100% done makes any sense. It sets up a lot of worry about April 3rd as well. Oh boy.

I think the OLP release date is much more important, and as we've heard via Twitter it seems the band is scrambling to polish up the final pieces. We know Trusty was working on this, and if they knew a week ago that they wouldn't be meeting the Feb 20th date I'm sure we would have heard earlier. I wouldn't be surprised if they were still aiming for Feb 20th but hit a roadblock over this weekend.

I agree. We all know that Raine is always overambitious with stuff. He's got a lot on his plate right now and so does Trusty. We have to remember that they aren't working with a team from a label. It's essentially two people trying to be in two places at once. and maybe that sounds like an excuse but it is what it is.
We're disappointed... don't you think Raine is too? He's been putting off his project for the band. He didn't have to but he did and I'm sure he didn't expect this. The OLP album already has pre-orders and a tour scheduled so like it or not folks... that has to be the priority now.
If you are disappointed and upset about it... get on twitter and let Raine know. He's pretty good at responding to questions and concerns as long as you're tactful about it.
I do agree that maybe from now on there shouldn't be specific dates posted. It's much easier if they stick with vague terms like coming soon.

I'm mad that I didn't get something for free when I was supposed to get something for free. Because the freeness wasn't delivered as scheduled, that automatically entitles me to some extra free stuff. The free stuff should also take away from the more important stuff that I'll pay for. Musicians need to know that if they have a side project that they're giving away for free, that it's more important than the one they're getting paid for, and they should let nothing stand in the way of distributing their free shit.

I wanted to take a day or so to sorta process this, because at the time I admit that I was feeling very angry. OLP has been my favorite band for 15+ years now, and I love everything they and Raine have produced since then. But still today, I can't help but feel disrespected and alienated by this announcement. I realize the logistics of everything, and that polishing up Curve is taking most of their time, but to just simply change the post on the site, no news, nothing on Raine's twitter account, not even a word from Trusty that things were running behind is pretty low. I have the upmost respect for Raine and the guys, that's why this especially feels like a punch in the gut. And to me the worst part is that, though the public at large may not care very much, it's US, the hardcore OLP fans that are hurt and disappointed the most by this...
It's not about free music, or us as fans being too selfish, it's about the relationship with the fans. Raine has always said great things about how the real OLP fans, CM types, are like an extended family, for that reason alone we could reasonably expect some sort of update. I'm not saying we're entitled or special but for the ones of us who have spent hundred if not thousands of dollars on cd's, tickets, merchandise....we should expect more respect than this.
There, I've said my piece, sorry it was a bit long but I had to get those feelings off my chest. I still love the band, will still continue to support them fully...but....ouch

I remember the reactions when Gravity's release date was delayed from June 11 to June 18. I have myself been guilty of this same crime plenty of times. So while I want to hear the new music I'm not too upset to wait a while longer, and I don't know enough about the circumstances to criticize the way we were notified.
