Guess on their FB page they were plugging the NYE show at Niagara Falls when a couple of comments of Rich and Shelley came up.

Shaun McKenna Also what happened between (the band) and Rich & Shelley of OurLadyPeace.cc they shut down their website because of an encounter between them. Their site was well put together

Andrew Goss I miss Rich and Shelleys site as well however the last two to three years there were hardly any updates which sucked. I think Raine made a comment once that was mis interpreted by them regarding Raine not caring about the work people do on fan sites and how he never pays attention to them. It was blown way out of proportion and Raine even clarified what he meant at one point.

Was that the actual reason of the shutdown of the site?

Rich and Shelley ran a great site, but I think they lost interest in running an up-to-date OLP fan site several years ago. There was an incident near the end of July. I wasn't there, can't say what really happened. If you read Jeremy's twitter feed from that period it has his side of the story. I think they were ready to pull the plug and found a convenient way to justify it.

Meh. CC basically didn't exist for the last 3-4 years anyway.

It would be hard for me to "side" with Rich and Shelley if an "encounter" did happen "causing them to shut it down" because they didn't work on the site any more anyway. The place was gonna be shut down no matter what happened.

I have heard Rich's side and it was related to some issues with OLP management and their treatment of Rich and Shelley, followed by the guys in the band not defending them which ended up coming to a head at that show in July when Rich and Shelley were backstage. Also, they owned and donated OLP.net back to the band for nothing from what I understand.

Rich and Shelley and I still stay in touch. They ran a fantastic site that ran its course as a result of social media and CM having up to the second information. The band's participation on these forms of media has really made their site simply nostalgic. It would have gone down eventually anyway for these reasons, but we lost them as fans as a result of how they were treated by the band and management.
Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

But what was the exact issue? It's not like they were doing anything with the site in recent years. It just sat there dormant.

I don't want to seem like I'm trashing R and S and CC, but I just don't really understand how issues over a dormant site caused a rift between anyone. Unless I'm misinterpreting.

Exactly, as long as we are all happy! The positivity on this site has been awesome lately.

I've been listening to a bunch of the clips we have posted for album 8... really hope some of these make the album.

I'm hearing a lot of radiohead influence here. Which I'm excited to see played out.

So I finally purchased my copy. If you're still listening to the CM Rip you're missing out. Definitely worth the 99 cents for the improved quality.

Don't you mean cello? I noticed the woman at the live show had a violin for heavyweight, but I thought the recording was a cello.

Recorded version has violin. The cello part that Steve was accidentally playing in one of the youtube vids was a different song.
