Sometimes it's better to just leave a void there. I really only like heard non-verbalized noise when it's not a word, just a sound. The occasional "oh" is cool, but usually more as a shout, than just a filler. But that's not a huge deal.

I have to agree with this, it's something I was thinking of earlier. It seems that Raine has replaced his random vocalization sounds from earlier albums with random words like "oh" and "yeah" during short pauses, and I prefer the earlier practice. IMO the "oh" part that you mentioned should only be sung during live performances, or by the person singing along to the song. It can give the songs a scratch vocal feel.

I think it combines a mix of old feeling OLP with more mainstream Pop music, which is better than it being a simple pop song like the majority on Burn Burn.

This is the kind of song I could see in like a Sports video game, also makes me feel better knowing that if this is the first single, we still have The Wolf waiting in the wing.

I just walked down OLP Memory Lane for some perspective on all the positive feedback "Heavyweight" is getting... and I found this retro thread from when a clip of the studio version of "All You Did" was first played on the Strombo Show, and wow what a stark contrast to the feedback that "Heavyweight" is getting now:

http://www.clumsymonkey.net/phpBB2/view ... &start=137

So even if Heavyweight isn't 100% perfect, we can rest assured it's miles ahead of the first single from BB, and I think it may very well end up the best single since Right Behind You. ALS is its only competition as far as I'm concerned.

Raine finally has some emotion in his voice, makes any song so much better when he is really behind it.

I really feel like a huge scream is coming in this song maybe during or before one of the last chorus's, and then a nice little Steve solo

The song is definitely a rock anthem and it sounds like a solid lead single. I agree it is a little pop oriented, but I'm getting a Spiritual Machines vibe from it as well.

I'm fairly confident in the album being a good one. I just hope they pick a good mix of songs and not too many pop oriented ones.

I still feeling harassing Trusty to give is a track list or at least drop a couple song titles to keep us buzzing.

oh hey there monkey people! sorry I didn't post about this going up - literally launched it while I was half way out the door. Glad you guys are digging it and I will agree this is a lot better feeback than i expected fromt he CM ;) very refreshing indeed.

The rest of the track is fucking awesome - this clip only gives you a little sense of the song, there is a lot more to it that you are not hearing... but that's the fun part right? waiting to see how the rest of it is...you are not going to have to wait too long for that ;) I cant say anything about the single release date YET - hopefully more info on that should be coming in the next week or so...along with some sneak peaks at single art and some other cool stuff :)

p.s - I have this track on loop for the last few days and I am not the least bit tired of it yet, which is kinda rare for me. When I first heard it all the way through I had a giant stupid smile right across my mug. I'm not going to talk it up, but for me this is the OLP I have been waiting to hear for a while now. I think all the late nights, meticulous freaking attention to detail, hard work and the guys passion for what they do is really going to shine through on this record.

Things i like and why I feel like this is closer to old olp than bb:

-Guitar riff on the verse is f*cking awesome. Steve is definitely growing on me.
-Octaves: Though buried, there are two vocal tracks (at least) on the chorus... the one that carries the song, and then a falsetto one octave up singing with it. I don't think the band has done this since SM.
-The vocal effects and layers - Say what you will about over production, it was olp's ability to add so much interesting sound into one song that I loved them for. Then they toned it all down. Sounds like thats making its way back in.

If the whole album can manage to be as strong as these 41 seconds...

Yeah steve's riff is SICK! the best part is you get to hear it RAW a couple times in the full song and can really hear all the little intricacies of it...simply awesome.

I have found myself hearing all sorts of little things on each listen...a lot going on in this track and it deff takes a bunch of listens to hear it all :)

Wow. If this is an indication of the album, we're in for something special. Really like what we've heard of this song, sounds interesting.

Guys the track it's amazing! I don't know why but in some things reminds me Spiritual Machines...naturally with a "modern" sound!! I have got only one word for Raine's voice...amazing!!!!! Steve it's unbelievable...and finally also the drums are amazing!!! I don't hear the bass in a clear way but for the things that i can hear also this it's good...thank you Trusthy and thanks to the band...maybe we can arrive at SM's levels!!!

Are you guys sure there is a second track with falsetto in the chorus? I think it's just a guitar following the basic direction of the lyrics.

I do hear 2 tracks for the verse though, with the main being falsetto and the one below being deeper.

I'm digging the drum break during the 'stop, drop, roll' part. Really like the energy I'm hearing in this song. Looking forward to hearing the whole song.

Final opinion:

It's a rock anthem, which I'm not a fan of (but it seems to be what Raine shoots for these days, I get the feeling Lanni was the one that got the good stuff out of Raine in the 1st 4).

However, it's a rock anthem which is better than Where Are You, Dreamland, or Somewhere Out There.

I'm sure, its easiest to hear at the very end if the clip . "all these stars" you can clearly Hear the falsetto there... Its over the whole chorus, but its very buried and can only be heard very clearly a few words.
