This is not the OLP I fell in love with.
Long time lurker.... long time fan. Just thought I'd say "hello" and throw in my 2 cents. I'm one of the fans who felt like they peaked on SM, and, I'm sad to see the band change so much from what I loved. I won't say that they are less talented, or producing crap, or anything like that. I'll just say that they had created a sound that heavily influenced my life to the point that I can still claim that they are my favorite band after they stopped making music that really spoke to me over a decade ago.
Complexity may not = art, but complexity was a leading attribute in what drew me to the band. I am a fan of complexity, and, while OLP has stated they are not, you cannot blame some fans for missing something that OLP did so very well.
I hate to say it, but after I heard Burn Burn, I thought that OLP was dead to me... but, after hunter's lullaby, i was rejuvenated. HL was not anywhere near OLP, but it had some of the qualities that i felt were missing from many of OLP's newer songs. After hearing a few clips from the the new album, i believe that old magic is also working its way back into their new songs. I do have high hopes, and will continue to look forward to any leaks i can find to continue to boost my enthusiasm.
