I have no intention of being negative, but trustworthy, I've seen you mention that Monkey Brains is one of your favorite OLP songs of all time. I really like the song as well, but do you think the studio version really delivered the punch that song packs live?
I thought he was referring to Everyone's a Junkie.... because he calls it Big Green Monkey or the Monkey song.
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

New interview with Duncan. Talks about the recording process a bit along with Jason Lader's impact. Hopes for a fall release date for the album but thinks it will be released early next year.
Hahah Duncan just keeps talking and talking during the interview!

and Window Seat was written literally 4 days before Niagara Falls. It's the song Raine mentioned they had started that week.... Take a break people.

I have 2 things:
First, does anyone else think the new chorus for The Wolf is really weak? I loved the "gave him my blood but he wants more!" Now it's just repeating the same lines. Very bland. Imagine if Naveed was written today. The chorus would be: "I can't live here anymooore. I can't live here anymooooore, I can't live here anymoooore. No I can't live here anymooore!" Raine needs to keep it different and varied!
Second, I too share a feeling of anxiety with this album. Burn Burn also had great potential and sounded great initially. Then it came out, and the tracks kind of bled into each other. Better than HIPT, absolutely, in terms of creativity. But it lacked punch. Everything after SM has lacked punch.
Live, they are as good as ever, even if in different ways. But in the studio, they overproduce and cut it down so far it loses its value. People here are saying some of us over analyse OLP. I think OLP over analyses itself in the studio, and smooths everything over in some pursuit of perfection and loses the best stuff.
The Wolf sounds pretty good. But so did AYD. In fact, AYD sounded kick ass in those first clips we saw of it live. And then the studio version was 20% slower with no energy. And Monkey Brains! Possibly one of their greatest live songs! But on the album, it's flat.
So Trusty, I know you'll respond and say we have to wait and see, and all that. But we keep waiting and keep seeing, and then a year later we go "huh, not that great in retrospect." Not bad, of course. But not great at all. They age, I get that. They aren't filled with teen angst, I get that too. But neither are Radiohead.
I really hope OLP's experimentation pays off on this one, and I hope their producer gives them crap and makes them put out energy.
And I know this is your job, Trusty. In the end you are here to sell us on the band. You're paid to get them views and hits and tweets, I get it. But it's still just a fake layer of advertising using new media. I don't know whether you believe the stuff you're writing or not, and I'm sure you wouldn't reveal if you felt otherwise, since it's your job. But I was in your shoes, I'd throw away the job to get a chance to tell them to smarten up.

AYD sounded poppy from the get go tho. The sounds like a genuine rock song.
And the part about TW. What he types is most likely the truth. From the occasions I've talked with him, This man is a fan, probably longer fan than some. These guys are his friends more than his boss, in essence.

In my opinion TW is definitely a long time friend and fan of the band and the guys have asked him to help keep the fans in the loop. Obviously they realize that youtube and social media is the best way to promote the band and keep people interested and hopefully bring in more new fans.
I think that having TW around since the recording of burn burn til now has been awesome. We have never received so many updates, pictures, videos, interviews, live chats and stteams etc, for any other albums until burn burn and beyond.
Personally, I think its great that TW has been around here, even if he likes to screw with the monkey people sometimes just for kicks. Having him around keeps us informed and keeps the band focused on making music.
As for their music...they are not making a record for the fans....you realize that is impossible...we all know there is no pleasing everyone....the idea is for them to make music together....music the 4 of them are proud of and really enjoy...then release it and hope people like what they have done...thats all they can do
Im looking forward to the new record and hope I really like it...these guys havent let me down yet so im not too concerned

Is there something good, something more?
Is there anything worth dying for?

I really need to get back on the OLP bus, because it has been a long while. I'm not sure what is going on in OLP-land besides catching on to a song called 'the Wolf' on their Twitter; even then, I only am aware of its existence and haven't taken a venture out to Youtube to listen to it. I know they were planning on playing in Cold Lake. I'm not too far from Cold Lake, but sadly was at camp and couldn't go. My friend who went, though, said they only played for an hour, which I was disappointed by.
I'm going to catch up again, someday! (PS hi Riley and T-dub and everyone.

This version sounds very raw!!! Amazing! Can't wait to hear the final version....however i think that this is a old video cause Raine some days ago told that the song was ready to debut live...
