Sadly the weakest part of all the music we have heard lately has been Raines voices, im hoping all these streams and demos are just him giving some vocal direction for the song, because it barely sounds like he cares. When we hear the final version, I want to be blown away by his voice

TW, I am going to spill out all the thoughts that were going through my head on a first listen to this demo (which will probably be close to what a lot of OLP's listeners will be thinking when they hear this song for the first time on their car radios).

First off, great work with the verse. I like the slow build and Raine's voice sounds great with Steve's finger-picking.

More work needs to be done on the chorus, though. The lyrics are too wordy, it's difficult to understand what Raine is saying and it just feels like you are going against the grain with regards to the melody and rythm that was used during the slow build.

We need the chorus to be the highlight of the song and really take the energy that was built in the verse and make it explode. Maybe get the boys to spend some time listening to 4AM, Innocent and Yellow Brick Road for some inspiration that might give them a more effective chorus framework.

Completely disagree Illusion... I think the verses are a bit too generic and predictable, going through the usual rhyming motions and, as people have said, Raine's voice isn't very impressive there.

The chorus, on the other hand, is very creative, and reminds me of the off-beat choruses from SM songs like Everyone's a Junkie and All My Friends.

Working of finding the data relating to how many millions of albums we've sold, collectively. This is a challenge!

All my Friends was another good example of a slow build that worked.

holy crap.. i saw that a few years back and that performance was just mind blowing.. they are possessing something that zero to rare bands have these days. it always makes me wonder though ever since OLP got a little "meh" there was an equation change.. steve is a great guitar player and i love some of the guitar parts he's changed live since mike.. but the writing just hasn't been the same and as out of the box as mike.
and if i don't make it know that i've loved you all along.

They don't call this song a DEMO for nothing people heheh.

As for the equation change "meh" aspect to writing? Well that's sorta like beating a dead horse - when the horse is in really a giraffe :)

while hearing my father's music in the background the other day, I happened upon the inspiration for the OLP lyrics "the wolf is at my door":

The interplay between the bass and guitar on The Wolf is one of the better things I've heard out of Our Lady Peace in awhile.

In the most recent clip"wolf at the door", raine is sounding way better in the"the wolf", sounds like he's putting some emotion into it.
