Raine just tweeted again. Two years ago around this time Jer was doing all the tweet updates for Burn Burn. Who would have thought that this time around it would be Raine and that he'd do it so frequently? Our little technology novice who still mentions MySpace like it's popular and hasn't checked his facebook page in like 8 months is all grown up now.

“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

Raine's tweets:
"Day two in Studio. on the verge of moving on to 2nd song. RIP modern rock!"
"definition of modern= trendy,in fashion, hip. definition of classic=timeles.elegant,ageless."
Oh my God!!!! I'm getting excited!!!!

Wow, things are getting really exciting in OLP land. I remember a few months ago in an interview when Raine mentioned that they had scrapped an entire collection of songs that were intended for the 8th album because they "weren't good enough".
I'm betting that the songs they had recorded then were very similar to Burn Burn's style, almost a Burn Burn sequel. But now they are doing a "reinvention", and it seems that they are truly delving back into their roots and dropping the "modern rock" style that dominated their last 3 albums, as per Raine's straight-forward tweets.
Can't wait to hear the result. I wish they'd get a producer though, it would help to have an outside perspective.

Anyone else feel like completely ignoring any audio clips we get of anything until the actual singles/album comes out? I wanted to try that approach with BB, but was too excited about it to convince myself to do so. But I really want to do it this time, especially since this album seems like it will be better than BB was.

I won't avoid in studio footage.. Might try to avoid actual recordings of songs though. I'll probably cave though.
But then again, I doubt they do everything on .net in the same format they did for BB.

Ha!
There is always hype and excitement, then usually bitching and complaining. I have a good feeling this album may be a little different, with the whole Clumsy/SM tour bringing back some nostalgia - from not only the band but the fans. But I guess only time will tell and they'll never please everyone (especially here at the CM!)

Rock is dead, and paper killed it.
