Sounds like he's already being inspired by Kurzweil again and he hasn't even received the book yet.
So far I've read chapter one of my copy and I've had it a month. haa haa Wonder what he'll come up with when he's actually into the book.
As soon as I read that I saw a parallel to One Man Army:
"take this gasoline, tin head up high, walk like a winner"
"fill the car with gasoline, feed your change to the machines..."
And given Raine's tweet from a few weeks ago where he said OLP needed another "two-fisted" song like One Man Army, it's quity a possibility that he's been studying that song for ideas. But the "close to singularity" lyric is definitely Kurzweil/Spiritual Machines-inspired.

Good observation. Now that you mention it, they do sound similar and yeah, the newest Kurzweil book is called "The Singularity is Near." I'm reading it!

My hype is already gone. I'll buy it and I'm sure it will be pretty good. But my big hype right now is for Matthew Good's new CD, Lights of Endangered Species. Here's one of the songs, entitled Non Populus:
He keeps getter better and better, and keeps experimenting and pushing his limits, which I love. I know everyone is different, and I mean OLP no slight, but I feel they've lost their edge, and don't push the same way that Matt does.
Also, Matt is way better with his fans, strangely enough. He posts on his own forum, keeps everyone updated, provides webcame vids of stuff he records at his house, etc.
Now as the guys get older it gets a bit harder to keep the creative juices flowing, and they have other things going on in their lives. Hopefully we get some updates soon.
You lose all your drive after 40, or after having kids, whatever comes first. Quality of album artwork also tends to take a dive like with the latest Gin Blossoms, SOundgarden and Helmet releases.
I haven't given up on OLP, yet! Still looking forward to whatever they will throw at us!

I don't buy this argument. James Murphy is quite literally almost the exact same age as Raine and yet LCD Soundsystem are still relevant. The same can be said about Thom Yorke and Radiohead.

I can't stand all his pretentious political bullshit babble. I stopped visiting the site because of it. However, I love Matt Good's music. I'm resisting listening to the new songs, but I'm very excited to hear the album. Hated Vancouver. I can't stand to listen to it all the way through. Hospital Music and Avalanche, and Live at Massey Hall just can't be beat.

That's exactly how I feel. I unsubscribed to his blog and didn't give a turkey about Vancouver but I love all of the stuff directly before it. I am looking forward to his new stuff though.

Don't you have to pay to be subscribed to his pretentious bitching about everything anyways? No thanks. As a person he irritates me. When I saw him in Buffalo he made some inappropriate comments about his drummer's 15 year old niece on stage. Disgusting. He makes me sick

Agreed. Every member of Radiohead is over 40 except for Jonny at 39, and each of them has 2 or 3 kids. I don't think they've lost their drive -- though it's obvious that they've taken action to keep that from happening over the past 12 years. If you want to see what could make them lose their drive, watch the documentary "Meeting People Is Easy."
