Listening to some OLP for the first time in awhile right now... While each of us have our own preferences for how they'd like the album to sound (mine personally being something like Happiness or SM), I really just hope the album is something both the fans and the band can be proud of. An album with no skippable tracks. Something I can proudly play and say "Yeah, this is OLP." Something outside the box, a little quirky, but not afraid to have a strong hook. Not too ballad-y, but have a certain art to the heavier songs. Interesting writing, musicianship, time signatures, etc...
Idk, just listening to some of this stuff for the first time in a few months gave me to urge to make a post like this.

I'm starting to miss the constant daily postings from everyone on the CM, and hopefully as the release of the album nears people will start posting again. And given Raine's solo record release date, can we still expect the 8th album to release within 2011?
I agree with MOL in the above post, and if the Recording Sessions videos are any indication of what we can expect, things are looking good.
I particularly love the bit with vocals from Recording Sessions 2 (the whole whoa-oo-whoa-oo-whoa thing is very "old Raine" and erratic/atmospheric), the instrumental piece in Recording Sessions 3 (from 0:25 onward), and the Story of 100 Aisles guitar vibe in Recording Sessions 4. The music in Recording Sessions 1 has much more of a Burn Burn vibe to it when compared to the other session videos, and it sounds a bit generic, almost like Waiting for Something to Happen.

you never know, he did write a song about the migration of butterflies.
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

But look at what they're titling these videos. 3 months ago they were "writing sessions." Now they're "recording sessions" which mean if they're not trying to give us false hope, they're getting close to finishing this thing. The next series of videos might be called "mixing sessions or "mastering sessions" or if we're lucky, "packaging sessions."

Yeah, they have four recorded. Jer told us they almost had four more ready to be recorded in December when we did the chat with him thanks to Coalition... and today his Facebook status says he's in LA!

Yeah, saw that Facebook status and got excited. Hope we get some new videos soon, that most recent song sounds awesome (Writing Session 4).
