This has nothing to do with the album but it is Raine related.

Am I the only one surprised that we haven't seen a tweet from him today regarding today's mayoral election in Toronto?
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

Haha that's funny, I guess I knew what it was so I always see it but from everyone else's view I guess it's hard to make out.

Trustworthy,

I have no doubt that the end product will be great, but the agitation that I (and others on this site) feel is based on the misinformation that is being communicated.

On a number of accounts, Raine has said that music will be released every other week until the album comes out; then it was every month; then he said the single will come out in October; then he said nothing at all and hasn't in over a month (mostly he posts about paper).

I, for one, agree that an artist has no obligation to communicate with fans or explain the process of release, but when an artist does communicate and then stops it reflects poorly on him; especially when it gives the impression he is waving a stick of treats in our face and then taking it away. If he would explain why these changes have happened then I wouldn't care. But since he doesn't, it's just mean.

As for you, I'm sorry you have to bear the brunt of these remarks, but Trustworthy, as the only person in communication with Raine it would only make sense that anything we feel will be reflected onto you (we know you can talk to him -- if we had his e-mail then that would be another story).

I can't wait for the album, and I know everything will be amazing, but the communication to fans is abysmal.

Bitch bitch bitch, is that all anyone does around here these days? Who cares if he's not posting when he said he would? OMG RAINE DOESN'T COMMUNICATE!! Are you a n00b? Because Raine's NEVER been good at communicating. Why is this a surprise now?

Sorry Teedus, but I just can't stand all the bitching every time *some* people don't get what they want (read: expect and feel they are owed) from the band.

and I don't see how one tweet about folding paper = most of his tweets.... especially since his last tweet informed us that 4 OLP songs were being recorded and Steve's tweet today confirmed it.

Seriously. All the whining and bitching and entitlement posts complaining about how Raine doesn't communicate or Trusty didn't give him information when he wanted it really need to stop. It's incredibly irritating. I'm tired of these people who work hard to make us happy be disparaged because someone's disappointed he didn't get a special tweet today updating on Raine's bowel movement.

stop bitching.

let Raine do his thing... and, in the meantime, maybe do something else so you aren't waiting by the computer for new shit to come out.

He's falling behind... he's a very busy guy. Give him a break. Really.

For now... check out Neverending White Light's new song "Lonely War"

I completely disagree with Teedus. It's not Completely unprofessional and an insult to the fans. With his recent track record, it's going to be hard to believe anything from them (Teedus) in the future. *STIRS POT*

Sure, Raine can be really bad at communicating -- I know that only too well.

All I'm saying is that when he communicates something and then the opposite happens, and he doesn't explain or bring up anything about his solo record up for months, it becomes disrespectful.

Like I said before, the artist is under no obligation to communicate with the fans. But when they post specially on Twitter (a site used by artists to communicate with fans among other things) about releases and other information knowing that fans are reading then he should at least follow up with his screw ups with a tweet saying something along the lines of: "I won't release a song every other week; instead this is what we're doing."

If he doesn't know what's happening with his own music and releases, he shouldn't tell people that things are coming out when they won't. Before he opens his mouth, he should be sure of what he's doing because people get expectations and then their hopes are blown up.

I'm used to it, but what about new fans or casual listeners who get interested in him again because of Bury Me With A Gun? They listen to it, love it, think more is coming out in a few weeks 'cause of what Raine says and then months go by without a word from him and they forget about it.

He loses fans that way and credibility that way.

I don't mean to sound harsh. It's just honesty -- something people on this site don't like to hear a lot for some reason. Raine seems like a great guy and he makes amazing music -- but he should learn how to filter his thoughts from reality before he shares them and gets expectations in a knot.

I really hope that Raine (along with the rest of the band) know just how much we appreciate the music they continue to churn out. Looking forward to some exciting stuff in the future! Thanks Trusty for all the hard work!

Seconded. Although I'm not huge on Burn Burn, I'm thankful for tracks like Escape Artist, Refuge, Paper Moon, and The Right Stuff (plus I like Time Bomb, even if it didn't feel fully developed)!

1) Who's opening their mouth now? Good thing I had no expectations to begin with.

2) Doubtful he is losing fans because of his tweets...like really? Some might argue (and this is NOT me) that Gravity did that for him!

3) I love honesty

In order for Raine to be disrespectful he would have to be intentionally making statements without any plans of following through, which I highly doubt is the case. Disrespect is not accidental. Yeah, he probably shouldn't say things if he's not 100% sure of... but no one can be 100% sure of anything in life. Things happen. His statements about a song a month were in tweets and articles that I highly doubt new fans would be reading.

If you don't want to be his fan that's fine but it's not necessary to attack the man's character because he's bad at sticking to timelines. I've met Raine... several times and I've seen him interact with other fans. He's always been incredibly kind and appreciative... I highly doubt he's thinking to himself "I know what I'll do today, I'll answer promise some new music and then give them nothing."

If I hadn't known you for 11 years I'd punch you right now. Your sarcasm doesn't translate to the internet. lol

And the wheels onthe bus go round and round, round and round....laaa dee daaa.

Here I made a list for any complainers. Forgive me if it comes of harsh , blunt, asshole or whatever other adjective you would like to use in a sentence.

1. No one is owed anything - on any side - its a give and take relationship, always has been and always will be.

2. WTF am I supposed to do about any of this type of stuff? Do you honestly think I tell raine that a couple people online are pissed that things haven't gone according to THEIR plan? lol come on...I have a ton of other stuff to talk to him about and I already have enough trouble doing that :P

3. Do you ever think about all the other people involved in this process that also are put in the same situation as you? The artist, the creative dpt, management, labels, printers, radio, video directors, promoters, agents, post production people, etc etc etc? When delays happen it has a ripple effect that trickles all the way down to people waiting to wheatpaste up some telephone poles with cd release party flyers.

4. Don't you think Raine wants you all to hear this stuff as soon as fucking possible? I know he is stoked on this project and as far as i can tell is proud as hell of it and cannot wait for everyone to hear it...and see it ;)

5. Why is everyone always so quick to blame the artist with this stuff - you realize that a lot of the time it has nothing to do with them right? Sometimes things just happen that are out of their control - sometimes it's negative things and maybe, just maybe, it's sometimes positive things that cause such delays ;)

6. If an artist wants the fans to know something - he/she/they will tell them. Simple as that. Its not a conspiracy, its not some kind of torture test and its by no means intentional. It's usually done for one reason - THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL IS UP RIGHT NOW EITHER :)

7. I have told you that things are delayed for a reason right now - when its time to tell you what that reason is, you can bet your ass you will be informed. Sometimes things happen that cannot be discussed until the details are fully hammered out ;)

8. Instead of bitching you might wanna take the opposite approach and take on a more positive and optimistic outlook...I know everyone else involved in the project has done that, so maybe if anything is owed to anyone here it is the fans that complain owing support to an artist they love and hoping that the latest thing that artist is working on goes above and beyond their wildest expectations :)

9. (A personal note) Some of you people really piss me off lol! - there i said it - I see so much negativity all the time from the same people - do you people even like this band / artist? or do you just like reliving the "glory days" and bitching about everything that came after your fave song from the 90's on this board? :) I mean personally it kinda sucks busting my ass day in and day out just to come here to see the same negative bunch always complaining about anything and everything. I mean I already get to see enough hate on FB and other sites, do we really need it on here too?

10, From now on I am simply going to ignore this useless banter. Sure it adds fuel to my fire and there have been times where I have said " this better kick ass so we shut those haters up" - but that got old fast lol - So from now on I will continue to let you guys know (most) of what I know ;) and just keep on working away on this stuff and continue trying to keep you fans happy with it :)

Love,
Mr. Trustworthy McTrusticles
