Sounds like that'll be a really good song. Really excited for this album to drop.

Holy crap, this song is awesome! Reminds me a lot of "Refuge"... this song could have fit right on Burn Burn!

Loving the falsetto, Raine does it beautifully!

This new solo stuff is sooo good, I like not done yet better than SOS. The background is so awesome with the cello/violin/piano. God i love that sound, it reminds me of background music from like smashing pumpkins mellon collie era.

BBTS, also very nice

Anyone else kind of sad these new songs aren't say new OLP songs? fuck they are good, I really hope he can transfer this emotional appeal back into the band too.

I'm not sad...I'm hoping this will give us two albums of great songs! The only problem is I (as well as everyone else) want them much faster than we'll get them.

I'm glad they're not OLP songs... If we got an OLP album of these songs, most of us would bitch because their sound is still so much softer and ballad-y. As Raine solo songs though, I love them. It's gonna be really tough for Raine to out-do The Hunter's Lullaby (shouldn't be his goal, but I think you guys get what I'm saying), but even if it doesn't I have no doubt it'll be a great album.

Ok. now that Tom got up the vid here are the lyrics. Since I got must up anyway.

Not Done Yet -.

It's cold outside
and you wait for spring to break.
all my wrongs or rights
Cause I've made peace with my mistakes
NO, I, I
No I, I,
Not Done Yet
I'm not done yet

( can't this one out )
Wills on the strength you have to give
When its raw inside
always make you want to live
cause I, No I,
NOt DOne Yet
Not Done yet

When it's cold outside
and you wait for spring to break
through my wrongs or rights
cause I've made peace with my mistakes
no I, No, I, I
Not Done Yet

Feel free to twik what is wrong.

Most of you would see this on Twitter...but I thought it sounded like good news for this album!

MrRaineMaida J.Triggs shows really inspired me this weekend. new solo music in full force now. stage show will be different from anything before.

I have to say, while Bury Me with a Gun excites me, the other stuff is a little too ballad-y. I dunno, one thing I liked about Raine's first solo effort was how weird and different it was. It's starting to sound like we're falling into pop normality here. I mean, they're good songs, don't get me wrong, but I'm not getting the vibe from these that I did from his first album. I guess it's the difference between Gravity and Happiness to me, you know?

Sorry if that makes no sense.
I just wanna get out,

If Raine can sing good ballads, then I say go for it, its the crappy drival like All you did was save my life, ect that I find I can't deal with.

I definitely get what you're saying. I do really like these songs, but at the same a lot of it seems to get away from what his solo career was originally based on: spoken word. Besides BMWG, the songs are more poppy ballad/mid-tempo songs (which isn't really something bad, as the first half of OLP's career was based on making good poppy music). So while I appreciate these songs, as they are really good, it seems like the distictive line between solo and OLP is fading. Put The Hunter's Lullaby against Healthy or Burn Burn, and you can clearly tell it's something different. If I put these songs against Burn Burn, the line isn't as noticable.

Not knocking these songs, the album, or his solo career at all as I really like what I'm hearing. But I definitely as get where Fetus is coming from with how it's not something as "different" as his first solo album.

I won't mind if the second album isn't spoken word or is more similar to music OLP might record, as long as it's good.

I was just thinking.... I'm like 99% sure Trusty said the forum on RaineMaida.net would not be making a comeback. If that's the case I think there shoud be a Topic in the forum index for his solo stuff. That way we'll have seperate places to talk about the album and tour dates and post videos/pics from stuff that will be easier to navigate than one thread. Thoughts anyone? (I know I used too many "ands")
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida

We should just become the official forum for all things OLP related. :)

I'm not sure what Raine's new CD will sound like but to be fair the setting and mood of the Jackson-Triggs show was pretty laid back and
his setlist reflected that. It could be more of a case of tailoring his song choices to the audience rather than an entire shift in musical direction.
Who knows, those could be the only two ballad-y songs on the album...

I think a lot of the ballad-y stuff on both Raine's solo and OLP's music has to do with him (and some of the band members) having children. Like Raine said, Not Done Yet is about having kids, and so was Refuge from Burn Burn, and probably a few other songs as well. Maybe he doesn't know how to express his feeling about his kids in any other way except to go in the ballad direction?

I guess you could extend that to spouses as well, seeing that he and Chantal got married in 1999, and the more mainstream, love-oriented songs started appearing on Spiritual Machines (in a small way) and then full-blown on the next album. But that doesn't explain why there weren't any ballads on The Hunter's Lullaby.

I don't have a problem with ballads at all, as long as they're done correctly without being cheesy (both Note Done Yet and Refuge succeed at this) and as long as they don't take up the majority of the tracklisting, which is what Burn Burn suffered from.

Can't comment too much though, as we've only heard one confirmed song and two other possible ones. And I'd like to comment once again so that no one gets the wrong idea, I DO like these songs.
