That really sucks. I don't understand why they're offering you guys tickets to the Clumsy show - just refund the damn tickets. Jeez.

Yeah, that doesn't make sense... but I think that has more to do with the venue ticketing policy not the band. I would call the venue and complain about that.

Scary thing is that I just checked Ticketmaster for SM night in Winnipeg and was able to 1st row seating - how can that be?

There was probably some additional good seats released for sale. Try searching for 4 tickets and you get 8th row, 8 tickets and you get the back of the first balcony.

Yeah, they probably released unsold VIP tix. The shows in Buffalo were both sold out but there were only 17 to 20ish VIP people. When I looked for the VIP tix for other shows it looked like they weren't on sale anymore. Some people probably just don't have or want to spend the $200. Maybe they have VIP for the Clumsy night. SM nights in general seem to have less attendance the Clumsy.

So our entire province doesn't get a SM show?

WTF?

Trusty promised us that this wouldn't happen.

Fuck it.

Saskatchewan gets the shaft. That's really unfortunate. I feel horrible for you and Laurel. I'd cry, too.

When I meet the guys at the Saskatoon VIP, I will make sure to say how much I like their music. But I will also be sure to express how disappointed I was in their handling of the Saskatchewan shows.

Yeah, Trusty will probably come to this board and say how we shouldn't be disappointed, that we still get to see Clumsy. But that's no consolation to losing If You Believe, All My Friends, The Wonderful Future, In Repair, Mafia, Life, Are You Sad, Everyone's a Junkie, Made to Heal, and Middle of Yesterday. I've only ever heard one of those songs played live before, and now I probably won't ever hear most of them ever.

At least play a club or hall and let us move our tickets there.

I bet a lot of those songs will be done during the second set on the Clumsy night. They already do Life, Mafia, and In Repair. Raine's last tweet said they were adding All My Friends and a few others to the second set in Thunder Bay. I'm sure this one will be no different. I know it's not the same as hearing all of them, but it's something.

What's really irking me is that nothing has been said by the band yet. I'm trying not to comment too much yet, until I know the exact reason why the show was cancelled. I'm holding onto my anger until I hear the inevitable "oh, it was cancelled due to pathetic ticket sales" (what other reason could there be, honestly?), but it shouldn't take this long to hear something from the band/band management.

That seems like a crappy way to treat your fans. They should hear immediately, from the band, that the show is cancelled. Not from the venue website they just happened to be browsing, looking for other concerts. It's an insult of sorts, really.

This still pisses me off the most. I asked, how many times, if the show would be moved to a smaller venue if ticket sales sucked, and was told "oh, no worries". Other bands move venues. It happens quite a bit in Regina, actually. Some to smaller, some to larger. I think cancelling due to low ticket sales should be the LAST thing a band does...because those few tickets that sold probably are the hardcore fans.

Still. I want to know the exact reason why this show was cancelled, and no pussyfooting around the reason. If it's due to the pathetic ticket sales, please just come out and say it. No excuses. As fans, we deserve the truth.

5-1 they say it's due to "scheduling conflicts", when I know for a fact Conexus has nothing else which would interfere, and they have a day off before the next town they hit.

I want them to be honest and say it's because the ticket sales were too low. Then I want Trusty to apologize for basically lying to us. Then I want them to book a club or hall that can fit 300 people, rather than 3000.

Trusty said we would have the most awesome, intimate experience if the ticket sales were low. I hope he didn't mean us alone, sitting at home listening to CDs.

Hah, and the next town is only two hours away. That's not a conflict by any means. And the Conexus Arts Centre has a bazillion rooms and halls, so it's super simple to move stuff around IF it was actually a conflict at the venue. Which it is not, after a quick look at their events list.

I'm angry because I was reassured, numerous times, that the show would go on. And I trusted what I was told, and stopped worrying, like I was told to. Hah. Lot of good that did.

Look, I never lied to anyone or promised anyone anything - I simply told you i wouldn't worry about it too much. We did a few hundred people in london for SM night, it didn't get canceled, and it was a great show. nothing is guaranteed ever and these things get treated differently in every venue/city /etc - and as much as I would like to be able to predict the future, I CANT.

In all honesty, OLP would play for 4 people if there are 4 people who want to listen - So enough with this OLP doesn't care and OLP hates their fans etc. That is pure bullshit and I know that every cancellation thus far has really bummed everyone out. The guys wouldn't hit the road if they didn't want to play and give you the best damn show possible, and when that doens't happen its a real downer for everyone involved, the fans, the band etc. You have to remember this stuff 99% of the time not the bands call.

So please enough with all this BS - I understand you are bummed out, as I would be too - but I have not heard anything about this cancellation - and until i do I will not say anything more until i get the proper information.

Perhaps you should do the same :)

I guess your right, I checked the Clumsy show - they barely had anything left a few weeks ago - but now I can get 6th row floor seating. It kind of makes me want to buy the better seats - but I'd be too worried with being stuck with some tickets I can't get rid of.

Likewise. I'm kinda pissed. I have the back of the first balcony the first night. Now 6th row seating shows up? Humph... i hate ticket selling strategies.

I fully agree with you in regards to the ticket sales and i don't understand why or how that works - i have seen premium ticks get released the day of - just seems strange. I always thought you buy your ticks early to get the best seats - and then they always end up releasing better seats just before the show....and you know if you waited till then you would prob not end up getting tix in the first place. It really is strange.

also in regards to changing venues

i know for a fact a lot of time and effort went into planning this tour - as you can imagine its no easy task to find a large enough but intimate setting for this tour that is available for 2 nights in each city. Then try finding 2 places like that in each city for 2 separate nights? well you can imagine what a nightmare that could turn into....unfortunately timing is not on a tours side - this stuff gets booked months and months out - so trying to change venues on this scale a few weeks out is next to impossible.

I guess we're frustrated because everything did go according to plan, and there is no problem with the venue. The show is being canceled due to low ticket sales, which we fans warned about back to even a few weeks after tickets went on sale. There could have been months to arrange a smaller venue. And what is more intimate than a club, or hall? Other locations on the tour are in a hall rather than big ballet theatre.

And I know all about booking problems, as I used to book shows for a dance company that toured. And in Regina, you can get anywhere you want on a few weeks notice if they don't have anything that night.

It's frustrating because we knew this would happen, and were told it wouldn't, and then it did, and nothing is being done for us.

You mentioned in the other thread how OLP makes stuff up to the fans for problems like this. The problem is, how can they? The whole point of this tour was to make it up to the fans who want to hear their old stuff like SM, but now we can't hear it.

How can that be made up to us? A free t-shirt? 2 extra songs at a Clumsy show? Nothing matters but the music. This whole tour was based around SM and what the fans wanted, and now many of us are getting shafted, and nothing is being done and no effort made to make us feel appreciated.

I was in such a hurry and bought pre-sale - lesson learned!
