I think there is some kind of bitterness there still on Raine's part..He doesn't talk about it much. I can say that Mike looks back on OLP with fondness. It was his pass. He has moved on but does not have anything bad to say about them. I just saw him and he even asked me about the shows..

It should also be on the explore music page as a podcast. They did that with the last OLP interview.
this was a long one. I love how they did talk about all the cd's and the process of recording them..

That's what he was saying really.

That was a really good interview, although I expected it to be as Alan isn't a run-of-the-mill interviewer. I was hoping he'd bring up songs like Trapeze or Vampires since they were titles at one point, or that he'd bring up unreleased songs when they said they recorded 14 songs for Burn Burn (Matt already questioned them about the possibility of releasing unreleased tracks and we know why they aren't for now, but it'd still be nice to hear them discuss it).

Still really happy to know how much they love Spiritual Machines, and it was good to hear they're proud of the music they made on Happiness. I've kind of had the feeling Raine isn't exactly overjoyed with Clumsy, which you could see in the interview, since he "has to grind his teeth while singing a few of its songs." Josh's point about their feelings toward Healthy was kind of touched on, with the band saying how there's moments on the album they're really proud of, but the recording experience just kind of has it plagued for them right now.

Interesting interview and of course, they avoided Turner so much it is sad. I mean comon, he was part of their life, part of their album, they all worked together. Sometimes I wish they would open up about it!

Was Steve there? Cuz i think that would make it a little more uncomfortable to go into detail wit.

For sure he was there, he stayed silent for along time cause they talked about the very beginning of olp to now, albums by albums...To be honest, Turner was a big part of these early album so they try to go around and avoid talking about him so it was weird and awkward at some moments.

He was there. Awkward moment when Alan slipped up at the beginning and called him Mike.

Also, the band said they all have the eight songs they originally played for the different Sony branches during the making of Healthy (the one they said they really think is amazing). I realize it can't be released right now due to Sony owning the masters... But it'd be a shame if they somehow leaked onto the Hub, huh? :heythere:

We can dream about all these unreleased work getting their way to our "patient" ears someday. I couldn't believe it when they mentioned the demos. It was good to see them talk about the past, saul, naveed...I just couldn't believe Raine's respond to clumsy....this is real weird.

Was anyone able to record the Alan Cross interview? I feel like I missed out on something important.

It should eventually be a podcast on the explore music. The last thing up is the talking of Burn Burn

As for the new cd. We spoke with Duncan last nigth about more shows. He said they were not sure cause Raine was working on his solo stuff and they wentred to get back to recording their new cd. That is a good sign if they want to get back into Studio

On ExploreMusic, they laid down a general game plan. They said they'd finish the tour, Raine would finish up and release his solo album, and then they'd work on Album 8 more with a release by the end of the year, or an early 2011 release.

That doesn't really leave room for Raine to tour his solo if he plans to, unless they record in a short period of on and off so Raine can do a show here and there. But I'm hoping instead they just have Raine's solo open for OLP once they're ready to tour.

That would be cool, but alot of work for Raine to pretty much do two shows a night, i guess that's what they're doing now, but still.

HE did say they might do some summer gigs. This could all change. I th ink they just want to get music recorded while the creative juices are flowing..

I do not know about Raine touring though. He seems pretty committed to the OLP stuff at the moment. but has been working on a record. He did sing one new song when I saw him with his wife in Dec. Do not know what it was called but pretty much the same as other stuff he did

Ok, so the Buffalo Clumsy/Spiritual Machines shows were awesome. How long do I have to wait for the Naveed/Happiness tour?

Yes, yes they were. I flew from North Carolina to catch both shows in Buffalo over the weekend. The crowd was amazing, the guys were amazing, and I couldn't have been happier with the performances... I think my favorite songs were either Car Crash or Wonderful Future (love that Raine said they recorded it planning to never play it live :) ). Also, to the kid with the mohawk Raine brought up on stage, You Rock!

Have they slowed down The Wonderful Future yet?

Mostly yes.

It still was a little uptempo in Buffalo but it's defenitley getting that natural feel back.
