If anyone actually has better rips than Matt, then... they're actually Matt in disguise
... or Nikki... who's totally been gone for like 1 year

oh we got em, but they are on tape - you guys remember that stuff?
anyways transfering those to digital takes a while and the files end up being like 4GB a shot - so this is much easier for everyone involved.
you know that song Sade wrote? "smooth operator"? ya, well she wrote it about me

Really? Is it that hard to do the transfers? 4GB? They have this technology called compression.

Sorry. Hmm, I do have a laserdisc with Clumsy on it. I never did find an old unit to transfer it with though, haha.

I can transfer VHS or anything that plays on a player with RCA cables, the red-white-yellow cables, right in my house. Send it my way. ha.
But TW's right, that shit can get big in file size. Just need to find a good compressor.

4GB for a 4 minute video? 3 hour movies fit on a 4.7GB DVD. Besides, 4GB isn't even really that big these days so temporary drive space shouldn't be an issue. I've done a handful of VHS transfers and you can get decent quality and compression from even an amateur software that costs a mere $40:

If you record it in real-time, you'd probably end up with a 100MB file, max.

Storage space is cheap, but compression is forever.

That's the main thing, IMO. I had to compress a video, around 8gb from a transfer and that fucker took around 10 hours. And I had to restart it twice because of errors.
