Clumsy/Spiritual Machines Tour

I'm not sure I agree with you. Don't get me wrong, I love the song, but I think it's too wrapped up in drama for it to be played again. That song is really tied very closely to that tragedy - I mean, it was used for years to laud and hype someone who turned out to be the worst kind of scum imaginable. I think it'd be pretty difficult for anyone to hear that song and not think about what that prick did... On the upside, at least he killed himself too so the rest of humanity wouldn't have to be burdened by the continued existence of that despicable low life.

Hearing that it wont be performed live again because of that sounds ridiculas in a way if you think about it. The song wasnt neccessary written for Benoit. Benoit just "used" it so to say when he entered the ring. Its a shame that song is not known because of how good it is to people, but the actions of a mad man instead.

Not trying to get some debate going here, but I wouldn't exactly call him "the worst kind of scum imaginable." If he was just some roided up, pissed off guy who did it, then yeah. I'd agree. But when he's suffering from a mental disease like psychosis, and has the brain tissue of about an eighty-year-old man with alzheimer's disease, I can't exactly call the guy scum. He pretty much wasn't in control of his actions. I'll just say it's terrible it happened to his wife and son, and that it's a tragedy for everyone involved.
And twiqz, it was written for Benoit. He already had an entrance theme using that riff. WWE (then WWF) approached the band about doing a theme, and they chose Benoit since they thought his sounded the most interesting, plus he's Canadian. They just worked with it until they got the final result, intending for it to be Benoit's theme.

WOW, I did not know that!
I agree with you in saying those weren't his actions so i wont call him a scum either. They still dont know what made him do what he did. Pretty big bummer if they don't play that song live ever again because of that whole issue though, sounds great on the live cd

I have been good friends with a number of the wwe stars for years. I had the chance to meet Chris and his son many times. Always wearing suits and being respectful to everyone around. Chris had a mental problem and by no means was a scum. I know whenever i hear the song I think of Chris and I can imagine this feeling holds true for the band as well.

That's right, your Chris Hero, right? I remember reading that in a thread somewhere.
What happened with benoit and his family was horrible... there's no one to blame in the situation.

Maybe I'm being hardheaded and stubborn, but I gotta defend my calling him scum. The fact is that there is plenty of research and documentation about side effects of steroid use and about symptoms and treatments of depression and other mental illness.
Not to make light of mental illness: it's very serious, and sometimes (as in this case) fatal, but this man made no attempt to get himself any type of help.
He wasn't pissed cause he missed his therapy appointment, and he didn't have this rage from an overdose of Zoloft. Ultimately, what he did is inexcusable - and yet, all I hear about it is excuses...
The bottom line is I love the song, but I don't expect to hear them play it anytime soon.

As someone who used to work for the WWF/WWE, I also had the chance to get to know Chris. He was a very nice man, but unfortunately, like so many in the world, fell victim to his addiction. He was not a scum. I am not condoning his actions or his addictions.
There was a radio show in 2002 in Foxboro, Mass. Chris got to walk out on stage and introduce OLP to the crowd. I spoke with Chris right before that as we were walking out..He said he was extremely proud to have a great Canadian rock band such as OLP for his theme music. I myself think Whatever is a great rock song, but I also think it should be retired from the live performances.
That being said, and to try and stay on topic, 3 months and 12 days till OLP blows the roof off in VanCity!!

The only thing I am curious about is what will be done in the regular set. Yeah know all the SM/Clumsy songs will be done, but curiuos what will be done off Burn Burn. ALot of songs were not really done off that cd at all shows.. I want to see Dreamland.
Also curious if on the chosen night if songs from other cd will be done.. They have played Clumsy, 4AM and Superman's Dead at almost every show I ever saw.. Wonder if those songs will still be done on SM night..
Matt I see youa re venturing up for Van.. I have my heart set on closing night so doing Victoria instead.. Actually looking forward to that show.. Will be nice since beautiful out there in spring time.

I feel love, I feel a power. It comes to me in the darkest hour. And I want to feel it again

Not really. I'm just not a full screen browser kind of guy. However, I do sometimes browse this forum on my netbook.
Plus that image is 1012 pixels wide. Add in about 200 pixels for the sidebar and you need AT LEAST 1280x1024 to display that (assuming 4:3). That doesn't seem reasonable.
