Here's Jeremy talking about the SM/Clumsy tour. He doesn't sound very excited about it, to be honest. The interviewer definitely seems more excited :P

Wow, seriously. He sounds really unenthused. Hopefully he was just tired or something.

He gives the worst possible answer to "has (playing SM and Clumsy) kinda re-energized you at all?". It's pretty sad. I really don't think he wants to play a lot of those old songs, I almost want to say he's embarrassed by some of them.

That was depressing. I really hope it was just because it was a morning interview and he's just tired. If he really is that unenthusiastic about it, I can only hope the rest of the band doesn't share his feelings. These could be some rough shows if they're running through it like a chore.

He just sounded tired to me. It is a huge undertaking for them. You figure they play about 45 minutes for the cd's, maybe an hour. Then to do a 90 minute set. They have only played 2-1/2 to 3 hour shows a handful of times..( since I have been seeing them anyway)

I say they would play up to an hour. Take a 30 minute break then do a full set as they said. Then again they could also only play another hour and call that a full set.

I don't think he is really embarrassed as he is wondering if they can pull it off. If they were really that too put off they would not do it no matter what the fans may want..

Unless the other guys are really feeling the idea, and Jer isn't. It wouldn't be the first time a few members of the band had to go along with something they opposed (like for example, Jer and Duncan didn't even want Spiritual Machines to be a concept album, but Raine and Mike really pushed for it).

I was talkilng about the whole band. Not just Jer..

Honestly I don't think SM is that much of a concept cd. I read the book before the cd came out and couldn't even really tell you what songs are from stories in thebook. Sure there is huge influence in some of Raine's lyrics but to say this song represents this part of the book. There are maybe 2, 3 the most that I say deal with subject in the book.. That is me though.

I will go on record as saying this though> I think SM is where OLP came into their own with sound, playing, and writing.

Look at how many times Raine has referenced Jack Kerouac in his lyrics in the last few years

Well even the band says that only like 5 songs were based on The Age of Spiritual Machines. Based on backstories I've seen, those would be Right Behind You (Mafia), In Repair, All My Friends, If You Believe, and The Wonderful Future. There might be more another one or two, but I'm not sure.

He sounded tired to me, that's it.

I don't really see where the whole "Jer sounds glum about C/SM concerts" vibe is coming from.

Hell, if I didn't know that was Jer I wouldn't have guessed that it was him.

Bad phone connection and tiredness probably isn't the best to make assumptions off of.

I think he just sounds tired. And he said they were working together the night before, so maybe there was some extra tension this morning from trying to play songs they haven't touched in 9 to 12 years?

Ha... those are pretty much my five favourite songs from SM. And Everyone's A Junkie. And Life... I don't care how cliche it may be, I love that song.

I thought right behind you was based off of the fact that producers and record companies were always breathing down their necks.

me too!
“Music doesn’t have the power to change the world. What music does is it changes people, & that changes the world, so to say that music doesn’t change people anymore is just ridiculous. It does everyday. It doesn’t have to be on a political or social level. You could be feeling shitty & it makes you happy & if that’s all it does, it’s changing the world. It’s making it a better place.” ~ Raine Maida
