2010.03.09 & 2010.03.10 @ Olympia in Montreal
Hey everyone,
This is my first post! I am a long time OLP fan. Yesterday I came across that they were touring in Canada and doing the Clumsy and Spiritual Machines concerts. I was ecstatic and in a moment of excitement booked VIP tickets to both shows!!! I am very excited for these concerts, I truly feel that this is a once in a lifetime experience and I cannot miss it.
I am from New York and I have never been to Canada before. I'm going to be coming into Montreal on the 8th and leaving the 11th, taking 11 hour train ride to/from Penn station.
A few questions for you Canadians on board! What hotel is not uber expensive to stay at that is fairly close to the venue. Also what should I be checking out in Montreal, I want to have the best time while i'm there, but are there any MUST-SEE things in Montreal, any good restaurants, attractions, etc?
Also, anyone else going to this show? It seems the Massey Hall seems to be the most popular on this board, but anything not good about Olympia Theatre?
Thanks in advanced!!

I didn't want to start a new thread, considering the OP is obviously going. I was wondering who else was going. I was suppose to drive up to Montreal ( im from NH) with my older bro, but it looks like he is not getting a move on the whole passport thing. I am determined to see both these concerts even if I have to drive up and go alone. I wanted to know if there was any CMers going to one or both of these shows and if you guys wanted to hang out before or after the shows.

Hi there, sorry to see that your brother can't make it to the concerts. If you feel like it we can hang out for sure, just let me know and we'll see what we can do. No problem at all!

MONTREAL TONIGHT
Hey there,
Back from the Montreal show, one word: WOW.
Clumsy:
The first part was unbelievable, every single song sang so well, almost like you hear it on the cd. Raine made those falsetto look so easy. Everything sounded very well. Also, Raine did stand there to sing all the songs but listen, you gotta understand, singing these songs just like the cd requires concentration. How can he get these falsetto so well while he's getting crazy an walk around. He's not going to lip-sync the songs like Madonna. He gave what us fans wanted so much, the performance to enlighten every single song again, to dig them up from the cd and bring them live to our ears. Alright it's not energetic but what a pleasure for your ears....
Second set: They've opened with Monkey brains and let me tell you, the band rocked it!! As simple as that. Raine got off all the steam and as he said himself, now that he played every single song perfectly let's have some fun and I think that is exactly what it is. As we all know the band changed so much and I think that this is what it is about; giving us some bits of the past and getting us to enjoy in a better way their new music.I have to tell you, they have played the entire second set so well, I am still stunned and cannot believe I will have more tomorrow.
Overall: The concert was amazing and outstanding, I really am speechless and really can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring us.
